JetBlue pilots picket HQ in New York

Somebody wasn't thinking when they picked that date. Good turn out though!

Next time hopefully they wait till maybe May-ish?

I know that you’re mostly joking but to have 700+ come out when it’s that f’n cold shows even more solidarity. Not to mention this is probably the slowest flying time of the year for them so the highest number of pilots were available to come out in support.

I was there picketing. Loved the resolve of the group. Yeah it was chilly, but you know what? More of us were complaining about the poor pace and results of 1000 days of negotiating. Asking for a market rate contract in this era of profitability is not out of line.

Word was that 750 was the highest # for an Alpa event prior and that was with a >10000 strong pilot group. We’re only 3500.

The billboard truck is a p. impressive touch.

I miss the giant rat on a flat bed truck.
And then you lose the audience.

To be fair, you've made the exact same joke (except with a picture of a swingline) before.

We had 93% of pilots not out flying show up for our first picket. Way fewer than 750 though as our total group wasn't even at 600 at that point.

I was there. That's me below in my '15 frames of fame' as the camera passed by... On the big pic from the earlier post, I was middle row, left side, 1/2 way up...

It was in the 20's, with a wind chill added in. My cheeks were the first casualty and my eyeballs hurt. After 10 minutes I couldn't feel my fingers. 20 minutes, my toes. I kept marching... I had 3 undershirts on and the chill still settled into my bones. I kept marching. "Do you need a break?" was shouted to the orbit. Eyes front, I kept marching. The zeal I felt from my brothers and sisters around me kept me warm.

It was my day off. A day that I would have normally spent joyously playing with and raising my young children. When they ask me why daddy wasn't home, I can tell them with pride that I was out marching for them, that over 700 unified union pilots were marching for their future.

I am proud to have marched for my family, and for the families of all of my fellow pilots.

We made the Channel 4 evening news in NYC... (in a town where at any given moment someone is always picketing/protesting something) although the anchor said "dozens" of pilots... I guess ~59 dozen is 'dozens'... (if you aren't into public math, 59 x 12 = more than 700 :))

If anyone wants to help get the message out... please follow the JetBlue ALPA Pilots on FB and @JetBlueALPA on Twitter and spread the word. (and encourage anyone you know in the industry to do the same... we appreciate the support!!!)

They even had me for a second or so on the news...
