jetBlue Mint... Ice Cream? Nice!!

Why? (don't I like Airbus)

Complex but profound philosophical disagreement in flight control methodologies and the role of the flight crew, along with a nationalistic preference for a (theoretically) predominately-American-built airplane, along with my antipathy to other attitudes displayed by the manufacturer after AA587, AF447 et al., which contrast strongly with the attitudes displayed by Boeing after incidents such as OZ214.

My opinion may be ignorant, but I make up for it by holding it strongly. ~.^

Do you fly the bus?

I don't get why this is news or why we are making this a discussion.

The other carriers that have been around a lot longer than JetBlue and Virgin have been serving Ice Cream on these transcons for decades.

Hmmm.... I've been passriding on Delta since 2008 and have yet to see ice cream offered in First or Coach on a transcon. International - only to First/Business Class.

Negative. I'm a Cessna 207 captain. *Stands tall, perks ears, puffs out chestfloof*

I was in the same boat. Grew up in the PACNW, big Boeing fan. Disliked the "Airbus logic" as well. After flying the Airbus... Logic make sense and not interested in bidding to a Boeing until they make a cockpit as roomy and remove the yoke.

From simply a passenger standpoint...it was lame. I felt like they were trying WAY too hard. We all know that guy that tries too hard to be cool.

I flew from SFO-LAX. Probably the most pretentious crowd ever.

Dubstep/house music playing at the checkin counter? Lame

Self service machines were iPads bumping out music? Lame

Who's idea was it to change the lights inside the jet bridge to purple? Lame

The whole interior color scheme comes off as cheesy. They need to remember they are a LCC. Lame

The entire crew came off as rude.

Safety video? Lame.

Was left with a seriously bad taste in my mouth. Your results may vary.

God. Just paint the whole thing orange and white and add a Hooters girl.

So, to be clear, y'all have it in First in flights from JFK to LAX/SFO?

Personally, "I" don't because I just work there and any questions about specifics of service would better be answered by directing it to the company.

But I've been offered sundaes on a transcon, yes.

That's.........silly.

I disagree. I see it as an extension of their brand and one more reason why they are not an eligible merger partner for anyone. Not just ice cream but locally sourced organic ice cream. The affluent gen-Xers who fly jetBlue and will buy Mint do so not only because they like the product, but because it's "hip" to buy the product. Assimilating that product into a tired old brand won't automatically reap that market share - if they gain any it will be begrudgingly.

We all have our prejudices and priorities, our ignorant misconceptions and out peculiarities. In the end, these factors foment opinion within even the most philistine.

I am absolutely willing to acknowledge my opinion is based on a woefully incomplete understanding of the situation, but as a (retired?) systems architect, I don't generally trust computers; as a 'cowboy' American, I don't trust european aviation... and as a passenger, I don't trust airbus.

Remember, you asked me for the foundation of my opinion as a passenger and not for a factual dissertation on why Airbus is "bad".

@AAPalmTree has undergone a conversion that could potentially happen to me, but until then my opinion is my opinion, and I fly an airplane with direct flight control... and as a passenger I'm usually found on a 7{1,3,4,5,6,7}7.

Shrug.

That's cool, but that's not how people purchase tickets.

Some of the "old tired brand" airlines which have made multiple billion dollar profits tried the hip product (Song!) and, at the end of the day, people want inexpensive, friendly, reliable transportation and anything else is icing on the cake.

Thanks!

So do we. We've had it for years, hence why I don't see why this is news.

Oh, I think it's legitimate news. While you've had it at your airline for years, it's definitely a new thing for JetBlue that up until now didn't even have a single airplane with a higher class of seat. JetBlue is growing up, and doing it in a way that is unique to their brand image. I think it's relatively newsworthy.
