JetBlue captain subdued after pounding on cockpit

Scary when your captain becomes mentally unstable during flight! Kudos to the FO. I wonder if he got someone good at flight sim to help him out :bounce:

Can we just ban every airline from having a Flight 191 already?

Kudos to the guy in the video for keeping everyone behind him informed of what was going not. Not so much for standing in the aisle.

Story is still developing so we'll see what ends up being true/false. Here's some more details from another site:

"An unidentified government official tells CBS "the captain became incoherent, which caused the co-pilot to become concerned. According to the official, the co-pilot convinced the captain to leave the cockpit and then locked him out... The captain exhibited odd behavior, randomly striking up conversations with passengers on his way back to the cockpit. When he realized he was locked out, a passenger says the pilot began screaming 'let me in' and acting erratically. One witness says he started running up and down the aisle screaming." Another report says the Captain was "foaming at the mouth" and yelling about a bomb."

It is going to be interesting to see what comes of the investigation. It is very interesting to me that the passengers subdued the captain, same guy they saw leave the flightdeck, when he was banging on the door when the FO wouldn't let him back in. I can't say that if I had an FO lock me out of the flight deck I wouldn't have been banging on the door and trying to repeatedly call up front with the interphone. Obviously we don't know exactly what happened before he started banging on the door but as a passenger I would be more freaked out about why my captain wasn't up flying the plane than the thought that he is the bad guy... He is the captain afterall.

There's talk that he came out of the lav and broke down from there. It's entirely possible that he simply went back at one point, then started banging on the door to get back in. What's the FO supposed to do? Kudos for him for staying locked down if there was a concern that the CA was unstable.

That part I completely agree with, good job on the FO's part. But until I see something factual about what the passengers saw and heard, their reactions confuse me.

I've also heard that the FAs asked the passengers for help, but not 100% on that of course.
