JetBlue 1306 Emergency landing in JFK

I fail to see how this remotely made the news other than the fact it was B6 and a nose wheel problem... I think I've landed three or four time in the RJ with the NSW out. Didn't even know about it once until I tried to move the rudder peddles after touch down. The other two times we declared ahead of time but minus it being a pain to taxi clear of the runway it was a non event.

We can ferry the airplane with the steering out, and up until two years ago could take passengers on the flight. I won't do it though as there are just too many things that could go wrong with no steering ability. But plenty of other guys take those ferries all the time.

Just out of curiosity have they ever trained you to taxi with the nose steering out?

(We think the same way in regard to this)

I know of one check airman at our company that has his IOE guys pretend like the steering is out. I have flown with alot of upgrades lately and I always ask how upgrade was, just to prepare myself and it seems like this isnt common, but seems like a very good idea.

That Check-A might even check in on this thread ;-)

No... Which is why they normally use a tug to get the plane to the runway. Kind of messed up.
