Anyone have any info on this school ??? Someone commented they operated like Gulfstream academy. I don't see that on their website.

I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Check out the main site about PFT/PFJ programs and there are a variety of archived threads in "Hot Topics" about programs like this.

I took a look at JetU's website, and boy do they slather on the promises :(

There's a couple red flags that were raised during my read:

-They mention offering flight attendant training. The only reason to offer a flight attendant training course is to make money. Airlines train their new-hire flight attendants to their own standards, there is NO need for someone to spend money for a flight attendant training course such as the type that would be offered at a place like JetU. Even corporate FAs need to have recognized training, from a place like FlightSafety, FACTS, or Alteon.

-They call themselves a 'University', but are not a degree-issuing institution. That is just them trying to glam-up their image. There's no need for a flight training facility to call themselves a university, unless they issue degrees.

Read the readings Doug suggested, and please consider alternatives to JetU :)

I find it funny that Jet U's website does not work with Firefox. The formatting will be messed up.

Anyway, avoid Jet University at all costs. Any flight training program that "guarantees" an airline job out of training is a flat-out fraud.

I'm happy that you're seeking advice on flight schools here because the less people we see get screwed by these companies, the better off we all are.

Next thing you know they will have ramp training courses, and reservations agent training courses, and counter and gate agent training courses. What a waste of loot.

Naw... this guy is 50 something and wants to fly freight. He's new and is asking questions, that's all.

Agreed.

I actually read some of his other posts, and this guy is looking for serious, sincere information. I couldn't be more happy to offer advice to someone like this, and I'm glad he's here asking questions and researching before dropping boatloads of hard-earned $.

I've called them up and asked them myself, while doing research. 100% of Jet U pilots hired on with Pinnacle. If a pilot doesn't get hired with Pinnacle, he's guaranteed admittance (for free) into a Gulfstream Academy class and then fly the B1900 for 250 hours. That's your "guarantee," and in fact, they give you that in writing. So far, no one has had to do that, everyone has gotten on with Pinnacle.

No, you do not get a degree. What Jet U is: a Pinnacle specific pilot mill.

Good luck whatever you decide to choose!

as far as putting a blackmark on your career the only things worse than going to JETU/Gulfstream (the same thing by the way) would be to scab or work at GoJets.

I just can't believe that you have been a member on JC since Sept 01, and you're actually going to attend that joke of a school.

(shakes head)

"A fool and his money, are easily parted."

are you sure bout that? i thought CC was already a pilot at a regional?

No, he is an engineer. Wanting to switch over to being a pilot. He has saved quite a bit of cash for his training.

But he is very apprehensive about airline intial training and wants a guarantee of successful completion.

So he wants to attend JetU's pre-pre PNCL ground school. Just to do it all over again when he gets hired at PNCL!

:insane:

awww, that's right.. i forgot bout that engineering thing. go fig...

waste of hard earned $$ if you ask me.

I don't think CC actually said he was going to go anywhere near this school, just that he crossed paths with them and did some research on them. He said specifically

I didn't see where he said actually attended or considered attending.

It's no different than something one of our "secret shoppers" might do looking into any flight school.

Don't jump to conclusions or put words in people's mouths. That's the real cause of "flamebait" around here.

Wow ... All these replies in less than 24 hours. This forum is definately the place to get answers/info. For those of you that didn't take the time to research my other posts ... I just turned 57 years young & retiring from my desk job of 30 years & hope to supplement my retirement with a comm job. I've been flying for over 20 years & have over 450 tt & my IFR. I'm a past part owner of a PA32-300 but not much time since 9/11. Getting my kids thru school limited my resources for any flying but now that thats done, I can live off of $ 20,000 year easily & willing to "invest" some of my pension into training. To support my family flying is a dream come true. I get all excited when I talk to these schools with 'guarantees' but at least I'm smart enough to ask. My real passion is to fly a small regional but my age may nix that. Some seem to be sure the age 60 rule will go to 65 which rekindles my hope. ATP has been fairly frank with the age issue and suggested the cargo route. I'm ready to invest in my new career NOW (not getting any younger... Grecian Formula is a joke). I've ruled out Gulfstream as I want to stay a part of this 'family' and now it sounds like JU is playing a similar game. I'm open to all suggestions/comments/ideas. I guess the only real way to confirm what the regionals will say is to contact them. Meanwhile, I will proceed with my commME & get back to building hours. Thank you all for your help and for you younger guys & gals, I by no means want to interfere with you achieving your dream.

Tuckster,

Thanks for taking the time to LISTEN to what people have to say here instead of listining to only the posts which agree with what you want to do.

You may be able to dig up a lot of information on various places by utilizing the "search" function at the upper right of the forum. It will turn up a list of JETU topics.

As indicated steer clear of Gulfstream/PFJ.

ow as for your age and getting to the regionals, don't be age discriminatory against yourself! Lets say that you decide to get your Commercial and CFI ticket to build hours that way. In 6 months you might be eligible to apply. Think I'm kidding? I'm not.

Even at 450tt you still dont need much time to apply for a few regionals... My bet is you have an opportunity to get in with someone for about 5 years (if that age 65 thing passed - I cant remember) Then have the opportunity to go 135 after that if you play your hand right.

Good luck
