"I was thinking about this the other day. I wonder why no US airlines have programs like this set up similar to the training in other countries"

Because they don't need them and because they aren't necessary here.

I wonder if they have a fraternity? This seems dumb to me. This sounds like that one place in Miami that has a full motion 727 sim that anyone can jump on for the right price.

well guys i think its official that the jet university is a joke. My email came back as an unknown user.
Well if it is a joke, they are going all out. I just saw an ad for Jet University in FLYING magazine on page 40 of the March issue.

looks like the same crap Gulfstream Academy is pulling with the "you pay us to be a first officer with Gulfstream for 200 hours, and we'll pay you a lousy $9.50 an our back."

Looks like pilot recruiting is in Fort Lauderdale, hmmm... home of Gulfstream Academy. Call em' if you want... 954-410-5367 or 1-866-787-JETU nice touch with the 800 # uh?

Jet U is new name for Sim Center's 727 FE program

Jet University is the new name for the 727 flight engineer program that is being done by Sim Center in Miami. The program is listed on Sim Center's website which has a link on climbto350.com. I will not comment on the program since it speaks for itself on the website ( ie a pfj program) I heard that Custom Air Transport is the company that uses the students and supposedly hires them as line pilots on the 72...

so to put it simply they are trying to put a fresh coat of shine on an old dog...

US gold in border cross. now thats flying...:nana2: :nana2:and beware the flying tomato coming to a half pipe near you:rawk:

This is interesting...when I first saw that ad the first thing that came to my mind was "Jeez...that ad looks VERY similar to Gulfstream's"...shady operation...

Who takes an ad in FLYING out before they get a fully functional website? And if you're going to be legit...don't scan your ad and make an homepage out of it...unbelievable. I recommend staying far away.

Happy flying folks.

Well, if it is the same program as the one that puts people in the FE seat at CAT, I can unfortunatly say it works. Two of my former students did it (despite my best efforts to convince them otherwise) and both are sitting sideways on the 727. Upgrade to the right seat is about 18 months they said. I'm not going to make any editorial on the whole PFJ thing (oh wait, I just did) but the program is not a scam.

I currently live in Ft. Lauderdale and go to a flight school down here. A few weeks ago I took a tour of Jet University and their facilites. They operate out of a building at MIA and it appears to be a good route if you have the money and are willing to take the risk. You go through a 12 week course designed specifically for the B 727, where upon your completion of the course you are given a position as a F.E.
After 250 hours as a F.E., and the company feels you are capable of being a good emnployee, you are given a job as a F.O.
They do advertise many advantages for completing the program and working for them other than the obvious such as getting to live anywhere in the cont. U.S. you choose, as long as you live close to a major airport. CAT pay's $30 an hour for F.O. and $60 for Capt. I was also told they only fly on weekdays, so you get weekends off to fly home if you choose.
All in all it seems good but I am cautious because I try to live by the key rule of if something seems to good to be true it probably is.
As far as the program's advertising looking like Gulfstreeam's, Jet University is being run by two former Gulfstream employees who left for reasons unknown to me. These two guys said they have all the conections they had at Gulfstream and gave me the impression that they were the keys to getting jobs with Pinnacle, Continental Express, American Eagle, etc.... and now that they are gone Gulfstream is not as reliable.
Due to the fact I have been on the tour and I have these guys cell phone numbers let me know if anyone has any questions regarding Jet U.
As far as me, I'm still not sure what I am going to do when I complete my current training. Hope this helps some!

"where upon your completion of the course you are given a position as a F.E." How much does 727 F/E pay at CAT? What basic pilot quals do you need to enter this program? How much do you pay for the training/job as an F/E?

"CAT pay's $30 an hour for F.O. and $60 for Capt."

That's really bad. Regional pilot pay to fly a 727. How would that make you feel?

"I was also told they only fly on weekdays, so you get weekends off"

That isn't a good thing, either. That's a terrible schedule.

UPS is taking over a bunch of CAT flying (Menlo) in July. This could hurt their growth quite a bit and cause this Jet U program some trouble.

Sounds like the Gulfstream cancer is spreading to larger aircraft....

:panic: Thanks for the great info. I tok a tour of the Jet University academy and was impressed and have already applied for a loan. I went to see if I was approved and I thought to myself I should make sure about this company before the 50,000 ++ is dispersed.
I googled Jet university scam and it took me to this forum... Should I go ahead with the program and be the best and make the 85 percent that get hired or stay away. The percentage of pilots that have been hired from JU is 85% ,so it brings me to the conclusion that there will always be negative reviews about a flight training program; specially if the program is extraordinary like the JU program and everyone has not had that kind of short term results yet. Let me know what you think ... My direct e-mail is kingdariusdgreat@gmail.com

Necroposting = Bad.

Not doing your research on a dump like "Jet U" = Badder.
