Jet Time as a Minimum..

Realistically the jet time requirement will most likely drop when hiring increases at the majors.

The thread that inspired this thread was a corporate posting. Most of the better pt 91 jobs out there will still either require previous jet time, or you'll have to be well connected and have a strong advocate on the inside. I don't see that changing.

I don't profess to know anything about the airline world, so I would hate to even guess what their future requirements will be.

Of course. Here is everything you need to know to fly military surplus aircraft. The best part is when you have enough experience they will just slap an "unlimited rating" on your certificate for these aircraft so that you only need an endorsement to fly other types instead of full blown checkrides.
You can, yes.

Gentlemen, thank you. I will dig into that. My next goal is to get my glider and tail wheel rating so I can have some fun flying and get my oldest boy interested in flight, in gliders first. The vintage warbird thing will be something to pursue next. I had no idea there was a route to take to get to fly those machines, I always thought it was right place right time kind of thing.

Typically it is a networking thing. Having an LOA in say a T-6 would be a good start.

Some Museums and other groups have been known to allow people who donate money to get training in their Warbirds.

I didn't think there were LOAs for T-6s??

It's not an LOA. The trick is finding someone who will let you fly their airplane given the insurance requirements.
