Jet sucks a safety pylon into its engine

That's what you get when you try to save money, AA has been having the blues. A guy down here in TUL got ran over, yes ran over by a jetbridge Sunday night, guy probably will never walk again or loose a leg smh, and Tuesday someone drive the crew stair's into the front of a 757. You would think it would be cheaper to pay these guys and gals more and give more training, but nah its just cheaper to fix engines and holes in airplanes....

I was thinking about this the other day; I wonder why there aren't some flush-mounted LEDs/miniature strobes around the cowl … something more apparent than the main beacon for when the engine is running.
Like maybe the sound?

Like maybe the sound?

It's surprising the number of times a ground crew has heard an engine wind down with the other one still running, assumed it was #2, and opened up the cargo doors when really it was #1 that was shutdown.

The idea with a little "pilot" light (heh) on the engine is belt-and-suspenders, sound and visual queues. Maybe it's already been considered and the lawyers decided if a light was inop and something bad happened then there's more liability than if it never existed. I dunno.

This sounds a lot like trying to litigate common sense.

I had a ground guy in DEN tell me there is a high pitch whining sound coming from the back. All I could do is say thanks for the heads up.
I think of it as a learning point. As high and mighty as a regional FO are, there still people who hold us as professionals. Acting as such doesn't take much effort.
He probably learned later on that it was the APU making the sound, but at least the pilot wasn't a dick.
