If you are a middle-aged white guy of Anglo-Irish ancestry you probably get chunks of flesh cut off you every couple of years.
Recently, my seventy-something dermatologist removed a pre-cancerous Porsche payment from my face. It required five or six stitches to close the surgical wound. I couldn’t help but praise my doctor for his work, the sutures closed my wound perfectly. He’s been my dermatologist for years so I was comfortable asking him if he feared that his skills would decline with age.
He said that he was better than he was when he was thirty, but then added that he wasn’t very good at thirty.
I felt awkward and thanked him for his skillful work. He then mentioned that the lesion he removed might be cancerous.
Then, he nonchalantly said that he hoped he got it all.
