Jet Blue Requirements

Is it just me or are guys getting stressed out? Seems like a lot of angst in this thread too.

Oooooh, there are a lot of stressy people out there. I almost need a personal assistance to arrange a queue.

I know who he is, but I'd prefer not to pass along his name unless he really goes off the deep end. I'm holding out hope that eventually he'll get better. :) For now, I wouldn't worry about him. He left Pinnacle to go to Virgin before he got any PIC time, so he's stuck there. He doesn't meet anyone else's minimums, certainly not UPS's.

Hmm, not really. SWA, FedEx, Alaska and UPS are the only airlines I know of that require TPIC. Guys were hired (in the past) at Delta, United, and Continental, US Airways, B6, VX will 0 TPIC or with less than 1000. TPIC is a dying requirement.

Far from stuck.

I would also be interested to know what the chances are for guys like myself flying charter in a jet, if I would be to get on with JB down the road. I have some regional airline experience, but I had to leave due to some family personal issues, and began flying charter in a citation. Now I don't know if I really care to go back to a regional, hopes are to build my time here and move on to a fractional or major.

Any thoughts? Is JB only interested in guys coming from the regionals?

I have been here a year now and I can tell you that they take guys from all diffrent backgrounds.

I can second that... Legacy, Regional, Military, Charter (91 and 135) or Freight Dog - they do hire them all at B6. They like the diverse backgrounds.

I'll triple that. My class had everyone from 2 United furlough guys, regional pilots, 2 Air Force pilots and a few corporate guys. My interview group was X 2.

Any regional FO's?

We had two in my class... not a lick of PIC time for either of them. And I was at one time a regional FO... ex-Mesa. Although when I was hired I was a Charter/Freight-Dog type person.

It can be done... they hire based on the kind of person you are, not how many Night-Shuttle-Carrier Landings or whatever. It's not a surprise that more JC'ers end up at B6 because as as a class we are all very Pay It Forward/Customer Service/Giving/Go the Extra Mile type people.

Being a commuter on them is a major plus. I've seen tons of guys who regularly commute on them get hired recently.
Last I heard it was a " gentleman's interview." Just tell stories, no real tests, sims, etc...

It was a very "TMAAT" interview... gouge is out there for the looking for the specific details. But, again...they are looking for the kind of person that you are, not this guy:

It is a great place to work. Not perfect... But, then again, no place is. I have liked everyone that I have flown with. (with the usual exceptions) People that work there seem to genuinely care... and I stress the word genuine. I think that is the key, what they are looking for in the interview. That you are genuine.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Awesome! It's great that is a practice at JetBlue. Are you commuting or do you live in base?

If any Pinnacle folks know this guy please PM me a name. Virgin America is a class act as near as I can tell. Great product and classy folks. If they had a union I'd direct pro standards to this thread and let them judge for themselves.
Do Pro standards folks get involved on internet jokes? What would they do about it? Am I missing something?

Quadruple it. I think I was one of the few regional CAs in my interview group. A lot of the guys were regional FOs. Some Air Force guys. There was a chief pilot or two in there as well. B6 hires all over the spectrum since they're looking to hire the individual and not necessarily their experience. Requirements posted above, as mentioned, are minimums. And no, they won't budge on the ATP. If you don't have it, get it. I had those x2, 6 internal recs, and attended an invite only open house in 2010. Still took over a year just to get an interview. It's almost like it's luck of the draw since I knew some guys that barely met the mins with no internal recs already in class over there. It was frustrating, but I stuck with it, and it paid off.

More than a couple of dozen in the pool. There are about 114 in the pool right now, all of which interviewed late last year. Classes are expected to resume this fall/winter, but who knows? Depends on staffing, aircraft deliveries, etc. The number tossed around for hiring next year is about 200. I wouldn't expect the app window to open again until all the guys in the pool right now have either bypassed or have been given class dates.

Based on just my limited contact with them, jetBlue seems like a good company to work for. I jumpseat on them about once or twice a week, and most guys seem happy over there. Complete switch from the "I hate my life and wanna die" I see at Delta. The interview process was probably the most laid back interview of ANY job I've interviewed for....ever. No tech. No sim. No written. All TMAAT customer service questions. They've even designated a pilot contact person for those of us in the pool to call and ask questions in order to keep rumors to a minimum.
