Jet Blue Requirements

Quadruple it. I think I was one of the few regional CAs in my interview group. A lot of the guys were regional FOs. Some Air Force guys. There was a chief pilot or two in there as well. B6 hires all over the spectrum since they're looking to hire the individual and not necessarily their experience. Requirements posted above, as mentioned, are minimums. And no, they won't budge on the ATP. If you don't have it, get it. I had those x2, 6 internal recs, and attended an invite only open house in 2010. Still took over a year just to get an interview. It's almost like it's luck of the draw since I knew some guys that barely met the mins with no internal recs already in class over there. It was frustrating, but I stuck with it, and it paid off.

More than a couple of dozen in the pool. There are about 114 in the pool right now, all of which interviewed late last year. Classes are expected to resume this fall/winter, but who knows? Depends on staffing, aircraft deliveries, etc. The number tossed around for hiring next year is about 200. I wouldn't expect the app window to open again until all the guys in the pool right now have either bypassed or have been given class dates.

Based on just my limited contact with them, jetBlue seems like a good company to work for. I jumpseat on them about once or twice a week, and most guys seem happy over there. Complete switch from the "I hate my life and wanna die" I see at Delta. The interview process was probably the most laid back interview of ANY job I've interviewed for....ever. No tech. No sim. No written. All TMAAT customer service questions. They've even designated a pilot contact person for those of us in the pool to call and ask questions in order to keep rumors to a minimum.
That is awesome, I really want to work there now.

In my class of ten everybody had at least some turbine PIC. Most had a few thousand while a few (2?) had between 500-1000 TPIC. There were around 7 regional guys of which 6 were captains and one was a downgraded captain. One guy flew 747s and another flew the 757/767. At the schoolhouse one class behind was at least one guy who was flying a beechjet with only corporate experience.

They really do hire the person, not the background. With that being said...although the hours say 1500, I dont recall anyone being hired with less than 4000 with most of that being turbine. FMS and glass seems to be a deal breaker....nearly everyone I know of who has gotten the call has that experience.

This is in no way a knock to JetBlue, but do you think competitive mins will drop once DAL and UAL start hiring? We all know there are folks out there who want to fly the biggest airplanes and will jump on the chance to if DAL and UAL call. I hope that's the case. I have zero desire to fly anything longer than 5 hours. I saw enough of the world for "work" when I was in the military. I'll travel on my time off.

I know someone in the pool, and at the time of his interview he had roughly 2500 total with 10 (ten) hrs TPIC.

If you meet the mins, you have a shot. Of course, it helps to know people.

You will get away with either JetBlue or jetBlue. Always airways and never airlines.

Supposedly internal employees can apply once they hit 1500 hours and have their ATP although I havent heard of anyone actually getting hired that low. As for the 2500 hours total time, I am sure there are a few here with those numbers. Its all who you know, luck, and timing.

1270 TT, 35 TPIC and counting towards the ATP. I know I will be trying at the minimums even if I dont get a call, then every six months as allowed to resubmit an application!

On my commute up to JFK this morning, I sat next to the MCO CP. Hiring 80 more this year only. 115-120 pilots in the hiring pool right now. No word about hiring 2013.

Was that CS? That pretty much gibes with what I'm hearing, too. I'm hoping to join you on the bus up in JFK if I get a choice. Sounds like the 190 is going the way of the dinosaur in MCO, so even getting the 190 isn't a "fast track" to the MCO base anymore.

Aren't they halting deliveries at 75 frames as well? I have a buddy on the 320 in FLL/PBI and is over in MCO. It's a piece of cake, even on reserve. You're in MCO (area) right?

I believe the CP in MCO is J.G.

FWIW...a guy I used to work with is on the 190 and he just got MCO. I believe it took him around 10 or so months. I would have to guess that it would be easier to get there in the 320 though in the future.

Yeah, just moved back in MCO in December. The airframes they're not taking, to my knowledge, are E190s. The Airbuses are still coming right along. Hence the reason the 190 really isn't a faster option to MCO anymore. Used to, you could hold MCO in about a year or so on the 190. With them actively shrinking the 190 in that base, that's becoming harder and harder.

Oh ya, that's what I was referring to, the 190's. I bet all the movement will be on the Bus moving forward with the amount they'll be taking in relation to the 190. I could be totally wrong though.

For the record, not really true depending on your definition of glass. Several of our guys got picked up by JB and for the most part all of our cockpits have glass, the glass that covers the round dials. Our 300's have generation 1 EFIS which is nothing but an EADI and an EHSI paired with a UNS 1B or 1C with half the functionality locked out. Not really "glass."
