Jepp Charts / Approach Plates

I know the first page entitled "Airway Manual Express" says charts are effective up to certain dates but I cant find expiration dates on the actual approach charts or enroute low-altitude charts.

1- How the heck do you know if they are expired if they have no expiration date printed on them?

2- Also, the approach charts are revised every 56 days correct? What about the enroute charts?

Thanks for the input all!

Next to 19-1. It appears this way on most charts

Someone back me up on this....

1. The approach plates only expire when a change has been implemented on th plate like a new obstacle or procedure. If you look at the bottom of the chart there is a space with changes in the lower left hand corner this shows the change from the last time the chart was modified. At the top is a date next to the index number like 30 Dec 05 which lists the last modification to the approach.

2. The charts aren't really changed every 56 days unless of the above....The beauty of a Jepp subscription is being able to throw away the whole thing without having to knit pick and replace approaches with changes. If there are any changes they are included in the 56 day update. The low-enroute charts are changed only when Jepp thinks there are enough changes to modify it. You may have a low-enroute chart with a dates that is older than a year which is still current as far as Jepp goes. They do not release new low enroute charts like NOS does. NOS= NOAA government charts and plates.

Hope this helps..

The number you speak of (left of the 19-1) is actually the chart issue date. Plates expire when you get a new plate for it. When you buy the express pack they are good for 56 days and that is it. If you are getting updates they will give you the updated pages and you replace the old ones with the new ones. When we get our updates they also come with a list of effective pages which shows what pages are current. I would guess the regular update service has the LEP sheet as well.
