JC Needs High Five Ability For Posts!!

This is the official thread for requesting that we incorporate a "High Five" option for posts that we deem worthy!

I've read so many informative and/or hilarious things here that I wish we could give "props" or a high five for them.

I've seen it on another forum with great success, but I'm curious as to what others think. The basic premise is at the bottom of everyone's post will be a "Give High Five" button and whoever gives said high fives are named below the post.

What do you guys think?

Hmm, not exactly. I'll include a link to a football forum I'm a part of. If you'll notice on the random thread linked that down where you are able to quote / quick reply to messages you are also able to "high five." People who high five or support a given comment are named below the post. If you scroll down a bit through the thread you'll see that you may get one here or there, but many are given out to a legit thoughtful/funny post.

I just got to thinking that people like Ben Hill and a few others who are are either so helpful or just so friggin funny would receive them in waves. Rightfully so.
 
Besides adding a whole lot of clutter underneath every post, what exactly does this add to the forum?
 
Wow, if that's considered clutter (or did you actually look at the link?) then you must be a ridiculously organized person.

Is it going to make anyone a better pilot? No.

Thought it would be cool as some small insignificant way to give props to great posts.

I'm with bobdduck here. half of most threads are useless emoticons, or somone using the quote feature and typing "+1"

Threads don't become meaningful unless a poster add something of value.

Sure, say I support your statement; but ADD something of value to it. Otherwise it just looks like you're another lemming who can't think for themself.

There are few posts which are so all encompassing and well stated that nothing needs to be added. Adding a hand clap or high five is pretty much useless.


Props to the first one who quotes me and puts in a hand clap - you know it's coming./.

Fair enough. Thanks for your input.
 
I did actually go look at your link. Adding in a "thanks" or "likes" or "high five" box to EVERY post in a thread in essence DOUBLES the number of boxes on a given screen. It takes twice as long to scroll through as now instead of having to just scroll through each post a user has to scroll through a box of a list of people who liked the above post.

A lot of us view this forum on a mobile device so screen real estate is somewhat limited.
