Jarheads in the Seattle/Vancouver area?

I don’t mind you being that guy if I let auto correct slide one by.
Maybe my misspelled Latin threw you off a bit, but I don’t think someone would sign off with Semper Fidelis if said person hadn’t actually been a member of the finest tribe on earth.
Maybe my delivery opened the door, but you certainly rushed right in getting all “stolen valor-ish”. Relax brother, and for the record, I’ve never met a fellow Marine that minded the term “Jarhead”. (You must’ve been a Hollywood Marine or something)
Cheers, and thanks for pointing out the spelling error.
I once saw a PI Marine slap a civillian in Dennys because he called him a jarhead. To which the civillian then later apologized for. True story. So tell mr again the story about how hard your boot camp was with all those sand fleas.

I was just checking to make sure you were one of the tribe. No one accused you of stolen valor.

Have your sister's friend give a heads up to the Patriot Guard in WA. There are a number of chapters there. They will be glad to attend the funeral and honor her friend. Washington – Patriot Guard Riders Tell her to use the contact us on the top right of the page and she can send them an email. Have her include her email and phone number. They will get back to her pretty quickly.

There are also a couple of American Legion Posts in and around Vancouver. She can google them, call them and see if some other Vets will also attend. They will likely have Vets who could also visit him, in the time he has left.
Thanks, I couldn’t remember the name of the Patriot Guard. American Legion would definitely be a good resource to get him some visitors. Thank you!

No worries man, good times for sure! I could see the term being used derogatorily by a civilian and earning a slap upside the head. And yeah, it was years before I stopped dreaming of those damn things eating the insides of my ears and nose! You’d swear the DI’s gave ‘em names.

Funny story, unrelated to anything, my Dad had managed to snap a picture of my Senior DI during the tour at graduation. He had it developed into an 8x10, framed it and set it inches from nose on the night stand for my first morning waking up home. I don’t remember, but he would be laughing to tears telling the story about me letting out a whelp when I woke up and saw SSGT Humphreys!

Cheers

PGR, not what I was trying to remember, but that seems like a great resource. Thanks again!

And what was the little hill you guys always complained about walking up and down?? :bounce:

Nope, maybe been there 5 times. Each time only exposed to my Sister and her commie hippie friends. We get along fabulously while we discuss the invisible hand and universal wages. Good times, great wine,
I hope everyone else will be ok.
I lived there for 2+ years after moving from Kentucky and learned pretty quickly why it's nicknamed "Vantucky."
