Japan Airlines CEO

How many CEOs do you know beyond the few bad eggs in the news?

That's what I thought.

Kinda funny that you don't allow me to answer the question. First off, a "few" bad eggs in the news? That's an understatement. And by "how many I know", do you mean personally, or just in general that names of who they work for and their compensation? How many need I know before I qualify to your standards.

Yes, it is completely moral and legal to rake in millions of dollars while your employees suffer, and be the only one to walk away from a failed company still able to pay your bills. Those who cannot pay bills when they are "laid off" or "fired" are poor money managers.:sarcasm:

Shouldn't have done that,

by doing that he is lowering the standards of Airline CEO's.

How do you come to the conclusion? It should be criminal in my opinion for some of these CEO's to take the bonuses they do while the rest of the company is eating ramen noodles.

I think he was being sarcastic. Look at some of his earlier post in the thread.

To be fair, there are a few CEOs who don't just talk the talk of shared sacrifice but walk the walk. Jerry Yang's pay at Yahoo?

Shared sacrifice?!

GASP! How dare you speak of such socialist theories Tony! What is wrong with you! You must be MAD!

I used to work for the government. They took really good care of me.

All they asked in return was that I get shot at and kill people.

Fair trade, right?

Funny how someone like you got to be on the front lines risking your life, for not great pay and I'm not sure what benefits. But we have the Washington fat cats getting salary, retirement, and special interest monies. All they have to worry about is having a heart attack if they eat bad food.

By the way. THANK YOU for your Service!

Not really, but that's for a whole 'nother topic all together. ;)

There are thousands of government jobs that do not require one to shot at and kill people. ;)

Eh. It averages out. The pay bites, but throw in free food, lodging, medical, morale activities, etc, it balanced out.

Example: I learned how to fly in a military flying club. I was renting a C-152 wet for $45/hr. Do that in the civilian sector!

The fat cats make more money because there's less of them. If there were as few soldiers as there were politicians, there'd be alot more money to go around, no? That being said, I always felt safer rollin' with my crew than by myself.

.. and you're welcome. Thanks for the support- but don't thank me, I got out. Thank the people that are still over there that keep going back. Twice was enough for me!

Really? I had no idea.

I thought about falling back on a Post Office job if the airline business folds up on me. Then again, I'm not sure I want to go back to getting shot at.
>rimshot< Heyooooooh!

But seriously- I really think that some regulatory controls are necessary for this whole financial mess. Clearly, unchecked willy-nilly deregulation of industry has led to far too much profiteering and robber-baron business operation.

Sometimes you just have to put a leash on things to keep them sustained for the duration.

The actual salary of a CEO is but a small part of their actual compensation. Steve Jobs might only have a salary of $1, but he gets millions and millions in stock options and bonuses. The CEO of a company I used to work at made a big deal of decreasing his salary to $1...and then quietly granted himself a bunch of new stock options a few months later.

Actions like this are generally for PR. They won't be hurting for $$$.

Serious question .... if you were put into a position tomorrow, and offered a job where you'd be making millions, would you take it? Would you quit that job, or not take it, thus turning away that kind of money, because people working below you, or around you, are making much less?

I think it really becomes easy to "talk the talk" about "walking the walk", until you are put into a position to actually make, and have that kind of money. Many condemn these CEOs, but I'd bet that many of the same people who condemn them, would do the same thing, if in the same position, looking at that kind of money. It really is amazing how money can change people.
