I will be flying into KJAC for the first time next week. Anything special that's good to know about it? I'm trying to get as much of a heads up about it so I can avoid any surprises. Any advice will be appreciated.

I love the town.

Nothing special to the airport other than it is on a very high valley with big Tetons. There are escape routes to the north and south if you can't climb for some reason.

I used to live there and did all my ppl training at JAC. Nothing special to know about the airport. FBO's probably going to be pricecy because they can be. If you get a chance to spend a little time there pm me and I'll point you towards some cool places to check out. Fly in early and head over to Dornans in Moose for lunch if you've got the option.

What kind of plane? And for hells sake cancel IFR within 30 miles if it's clear in a million and use flight following
Na. Because when you are trying to help SKW from ground holding for 10 minutes and you cancel, they get a TA and chew you out.

You will get hit with a ramp handling fee. Space is prime real estate up there. They just expanded the commercial ramp with one more parking spot which took up the GA ramp. Im not sure what plane your flying in but maybe buy some fuel to wave the parking fee. And by all means when you see a pilot wearing a uniform and shorts don't bust our balls because it looks unprofessional and tacky.

If they wanted you to look professional, we wouldn't be wearing a uniform with a white collared shirt within 1000ft of our airplanes.

If you're doing an overnight, the Wyoming Inn is spectacular. Hit up the Cowboy Bar if you have the time. ATC likes to keep arrivals from the east up at 16000 feet and vector you onto the localizer before clearing you for lower if you keep the IFR, I don't know about from the west.

If you get a rental car and it's a silver Subaru, leave the liquor in the trunk. That's mine. I didn't forget it, I left it there for the next visit.

Haha hide it in the spare well?

BE20. Hey, comfort over style, right?

It shouldn't be too much of a problem in the KA200. There is a pretty nasty slope on the runway and high minimums that can be a pain for jets during the winter. This time of year no worries. Just be careful at night (big hills) and have fun in town. There are some great places to eat. If you can find a local grass fed steak place you will be very happy.
