I've been waiting to make this thread...

CONGRADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And do ignore the window if it happens again. A 172 will fly fine with the window open!

Congrats!!

My instructor asked me the question, what happens if the door opens on the takeoff roll? Me - Keep going. Him - Wrong, stop and close it.

DUDE!! CONGRATULATIONS Mr. PILOT!

Once you solo an airplane man...you're an aviator! Glad to see you had a great time and thats awesome you have pictures. Man I wish someone would have taken my picture during my solo.

I bet Mom gave you a 10 every time huh? The instructor was a little more critical. :p

Congrats kid....first step on an awesome journey. Enjoy it and have fun. :)

Yay! I defiantly agree though. When someone asks what I want to do for a living, i tell them I'm a student pilot. Now I might start dropping that student part :p (Not that Im not still learning, just that If I can fly an aircraft by myself, I think im a real pilot.)

Haha, yeah. He said he couldn't give me 10s, or my ego would get so big that I wouldn't be able to fit in a 172. I got 8s and 9s though.

You're a pilot now buddy. You've got that solo endorsement on the back of you student certificate, its official. Only a matter of time before you get that Private ticket.

I know what your instructor means by the ego, my instructor gave me the same stuff when I soloed. :p I wish I could still do some CFI'ing on the side, but with the Commercial regs I can't. I miss the pride and sense of accomplishment when your student acheives a milestone. Believe me when I say, your instructor was just as excited and happy as you were. ;)

Congrats on the solo!!! I think the only time I felt more happy than the day I soloed, was the day that I got my private license. It is a big accomplishment that deserves recognition. When you first said something was wrong with the takeoff, I was baffled. I couldn't even think of flying around here without the windows open when it gets to the peak of the summer heat. I remember one day last summer that it was so hot that the airplane didn't want to cliimb anymore after 4000 feet.

Congratulations!!! Welcome to the club!

I have a little story about the window. . .

Early on in my flying experience, I was taking my neighbor flying (25,000hrs in 72's for Pan Am) for the first time and the window opened up (I hadn't secured it properly) As I reached over to close the window Joe said, " Who's flying the plane?" Once @TPA I closed the window and recieved a pretty good tongue lashing. He then told me how he ended up upside down because of a pair of cowboy boots and toe brakes:buck:

Yep, got to talk to my CFI tonight and he set me straight.
Oh well, it was a learning experience :p

2nd Solo tonight! I can fly the pattern on my own whenever!

Naaa...don't worry about the window being open. I do a lot of aerial photo flights with people and we take the screw out of the window bracket and leave it open the whole flight. It stays up on it's own and causes no problems.

Congrats!!!

Very cool!

It was really nice to have your parents there to share in the experience with you. I love the ratings... that's hilarious.

Sounds like it's a time you'll never forget. Thanks for sharing the experience with us. Keep us informed as you continue on to getting your PPL and other ratings! :)

Bob

PS: Great pics too! :)

Oh so that was you in that 172 I blew past the other day.:p:sarcasm:
haha, ive been up every night this week at 7pm.
You never know :p

The approach for rwy 15 is freaky close to Whiteman's pattern :p If im turning crosswind, and theres a plane on final for 15, were pretty much on a collision course.

That’s awesome congrats. You’re lucky you had your mom there, and a camera my, CFI surprised me so I couldn’t tell people to bring a camera, we took off did a few T&G then he jumped out and said, "see ya", stay in the pattern.. I remember that feeling, congrats again!
