It's freakin hot out here!!!!

Re: It\'s freakin hot out here!!!!

All i have to say is when is enough enough....for every 2 days of sun we get 4 days of rain. Spring in the midatlantic really is cruddy. ther eis a line of tstorms through tennesee up to northern pa/ny and moving eastward...today its raining and its cold....i would kill for some nice dry heat.

Re: It\'s freakin hot out here!!!!

That's not rain, Ready2Fly, that's condensation!

Well, whatever it is, it turns the cockpit of an Arrow into a People-Cooker.

Not soon enough.

As far as I can tell, I've still got at LEAST 2 years left on my "sentence" down here (i.e., I'll probably have to instruct for about two years until I have the hours to apply and get me and my family out of here).

Matthew:

For someone who's been following the PHX ATIS so closely from wherever you were, why do you sound so surprised that it's hot there?

Re: It\'s freakin hot out here!!!!

I've come to the conclusion that there is a difference in the definition of "hot" due to one's perspective. In as much, there are two kinds of hot:

Visiting hot: The kind of hot you notice but don't think it's "THAT bad" because you leave a few days later and head back to Ant-Frickin-Arctica and say..."I could LIVE down there! It's not THAT bad".

and

Living there hot: Day in- day out - no escaping it - hot/humid as hell - walk outside and start sweating like a preacher in a tent revival - HOT. "Man, it's friggin' HOT here!! I can't WAIT for our two weeks of winter!!"

Oh no not surprised that it is hot here at all.

After all I'm an AZ.native, not to mention the fact that
Corrie and I had almost been here at least once a month since January trying to find an apt./job and spending time with my family.
I'm from TUS and PHX tends to be 7-10 degrees hotter.

MSL in TUS is like 26-2800 ft. PHX is like 1,100 ft. MSL.

So not surprised just simply noting the change in temperature/climate from Ohio to Arizona.

And now that I'm here I don't listen to PHX ATIS as much as before now I listen to CVG ATIS.....crazy I know

Re: It\'s freakin hot out here!!!!

I just spent the weekend in PHX, and although a little warm, it hasnt been too bad. Really bad was my old GTI with no A/C driving out from San Fran to PRC with the windows down, doing 90, with 115 degree heat saturating me. That's bad. I actually thought it was rather nice in PHX this weekend.

Don't feel bad, dude. For some reason, I decided to find out which airfield is the furthest north in the US and the answer is Barrow. But that's a nice airport that airlines service, and I wanted to find one that's kind of rough. I found one called Wainwright, which is just a wee bit south of Barrow. And then I found out what the ATIS number is and I've called it a couple of times just for fun.

If you think it's hot in Phoenix, be glad you're not there. When I called it last, the temp was -12 Celsius.

It's fun flying out of there in Flight Sim!
