Its 9 flipping degrees!

Its been relentless in KC. I've got 12 days here until before heading back to the cold.

Breaks my heart to be missing that KC winter, really it does.

It was freezing in Orlando this morning. Actually had frost on my car. Wasn't a long enough freeze to hurt the citrus, but I'm sure the farmers were getting the heaters out into the orchards as quick as they could.

21F feels like 9er in ATL.

That's true. I think it as fascinating how the body adapts.
Here in Nebraska a 40 F day is the Fall calls for a coat. In the spring it calls for Birkenstocks...socks optional.

And yes you best believe I rock the Birkenstocks with socks...black socks.

It was almost 70 here in Scottsdale. Drove home with the sunroof open, ran to the store in shorts and a t-shirt. Even got to dine al fresco last evening.

Yeah it was really nice preflighting in the freezing cold the other night, hooking the plane up to a preheater, letting that run, and then getting in and not being able to start the engine. Good times pause not.

Wife and I had to go to Nebraska over the weekend and when I got out of the car, MY SNOT FROZE. We got out of there as quick as possible.

I don't see how you Yankees take it! :D

-16F when I left Minneapolis this morning.

The heater didn't start working until I was on short final into Sioux Falls an hour later. It wasn't optimal.

On the upside, it's 32 degrees warmer in lovely Pierre. A balmy 16F.

Why do I live hear again?

Wow, that is an exact replica of me the other day... Except I had to also brush a layer of snow of the plane...

It didn't get above -7C for the three days I was in Stockholm. Thats what 9 F or so. Plus the wind chill. I think I just finished thawing out today.

I remember days like that in the C310 or worse it quits at altitude and your two hours out...."fun times"

Thankfully turbines put out plenty of heat...

It was a "Livin' the dream" morning for sure. Luckily it's happened enough that I dress for it but my kingdom for bleed heat instead of a Jantrol.

The most terrible flying experience I've ever had was back in my chieftan days flying from eastern Washington into BFI. I was fairly new to "the company" and aircraft on TDY. At 14,000 and -25C the door pops open! Of course the slip stream kept it from flying all the way open, but I couldn't get it back shut. I tried slowing, slipping, skidding, and shear strength with no luck! It was a very uncomfortable next two hours. I thought that it was mearly an FNG mistake, but it turns out that the door assembly was broken. :o

All you guys complaining about the cold. Spent Saturday outside on the 275 side of the BC Terminal at DTW. It started out at 5 F, by the time the night was over it was at 1 F. Was outside from about 12:30p till 2a, with few breaks indoors to attempt at cracking a smile. Frozen Lavs, Frozen potable water ports, ground covered in ICE(they are too cheap to get a bucket for that junk).

And folks who are supposed to be helping you do your job magically disappear for hours at a time. I swear there is a secret room where all missing workers go to watch football on Saturday. I'm a lav agent darn it, I shouldn't have to park the plane, download it, hook up the APU, etc to do my job, its already crappy. :)

Stay warm guys, btw its fun to see you three and four stripes slip and fall doing your walk arounds, j/k. :)

PS. the quicker your APU gets shut down, the earlier you are on my list to dump the lavs. If it doesn't get shut down, it "might" not get dumped.

19 deg here in Chesapeake when I woke up. About 40 out right now. God I hate cold weather, but I'm glad that I'm not back home instead, 10deg and snowing! Hopefully I warm up a bit if I head down to Atlanta in a couple days.

:(

I got paged into work tonight.

Get to the hanger all nice a toasty inside, open the main doors and the wind sliced through like a knife.

The old MU-2 shrieked, jumped over a Beech Baron and scampered for the open door to the pilots lounge, made a beeline dive for the couch.

Dragged her poor butt outside and now she sits shivering like mad chocked down on the frigid ramp awaiting the fuel truck.

Gonna be a long night.

Too bad were not off to Key West or Miami...
Better than where i am at. I'ts 5 degrees here. With an overnight low of -5
