Flight school (and Christmas) is fast approaching for me. I want to start a list of items I (and every pilot) should carry. Things such as flashlights, utility knifes, halon extinguisher, etc.. Please be as specific as possible.

My list:
flight bag
headset
watch
flight computer
maps/charts
flashlight
extra batteries
barf bags
headach medicine
bottled water
fuel tester
halon extinguisher
utility knife
compass
snacks
pens and pencils
calculator
transeiver
GPS

Feel free to ammend this list.

Transeiver.
Pens and Pencils.
Calculator.
Non-Perishible food.
AF/D

Some are not necessary but can come in quite handy.

Contract Agreement
FAA Phone Numbers (there is a small book with numbers)
condoms (I heard stories, or that only for the 121 guys? )

Would you guys say that a transceiver and GPS would be worth buying?

Tranceiver-I think theyre great but i dont think youll use them enough to jusitfy the cost.

GPS-If you have the spare change these are great and you would use them alot however they can become very expensive.

-Travel alarm clock
-Your overnight bag, packed for as long as you're good for regardless of how long the trip is supposed to be
-Cell phone & charger
-Laptop (if addicted to internet and/or on reserve for checking schedule)
-Febreeze
-Very small amount of Tide in a small bottle for washing clothes in hotel sink if needed
-Underpants! (Otherwise you'll need the above mentioned bottle of Tide for washing the only pair you have on you.) At one point, we all go on a 4-day and forget to pack underpants. Please though, utilize the hotel sink and wash the pair you wore on day 1!
-Carry your contract

In a pinch, hotel-issued shampoo and conditioner will also work for this purpose. The conditioner actually works like fabric softener!

immodium or pepto, a must have! You can navigate without the GPS, live in dirty clothes, and work through a headache, but when the squirts come, you are screwed unless you are prepared!

I also carry...

dramamine
sick sacks that I steal from the airlines

these are great items for passengers so they dont have to puke in your headset bag or who knows where else .

I'm not entirely sure about this one, but is dramamine legal to fly on? Considering that it makes you drowsy I'd think no. Maybe we should ask the resident AME.
