BUILD MULTI TIME

This place in Galveston does aerial gps survey work in a twin comanche. you fly with a mei who does the actual surveying. you log the pic. you pay 40$ an hour for block time. what does it sound like to you? pft?

Ummm..."Hey Bailey, wanna get with the Ringling boys and start a circus???" ????

you talkin about that "pr guru" pt barnum? i vaquely remember what that clown was all about.

Actually, I was joking. I BELIEVE the Dougmeister was referring to:

"There's a fool born every minute."

But, I could be mistaken.

AH, i see. well, my friend paid a ton of dough to go through this program and he said he did all the flying, but i warned him that it was pft...he disagreed....im just curious now.

Why do people have to constantly ask if something is PFT? it should be kind of obvious.

If you have to ask, it probably is

I think it's a "sucker" born every minute. Either way PT was right.

Yep, PT said "there's a sucker born every minute" and I think he also said, "Never underestimate the stupidity of the American Public."

Just wondering what you mean? because the sucker sure wasnt him...he logged 150 hours in a twin comanche for 6,000$...all PIC. he did it in about 5 weeks. I am just wondering if he crossed the line....looked alot like pft to me......

He'll also have to explain in every interview he gets how he managed to get 150 hours of PIC without having a job at the company...when it comes out that it was PFT, "thanks for playing, have a nice day!"

Be careful out there. Just my opinion, though.

My view....

If you aren't a required crewmember...it's not PFT. I hate PFT with the best of them (Gulfsteam and TAB), but if the plane could go without you then I see it as a timebuilding scheme and not PFT. You wanna pay 6K for 150 hours multi?...knock yourself out. Will it look bad on an interview? Maybe....but you'll have 150 hours multi in your logbook that you didn't have before and that might meet a "call for interview" threshold that will get you in the door.

To me, PFT is all about paying for a job (PFJ). Nobody should pay for a job.......

Re: My view....

Gotta agree with DE727UPS on this one. As long as you're not a required crewmember, knock yourself out. HOWEVER, since you AREN'T a required crewmember, odds are a lot of insurance companies won't cover someone with low time in an aircraft like that. Hell, I have to have my MEI with me in the Seneca until I get my multi rating, even if he thinks I'm good enough to go solo. Insurance won't cover me. Another thing that may come back to bite you is when you go for the interview. "So, you've got 200 hours in a B1900? How did you get that?" Well, if you went Gulfstream it was PFT (or PFJ or whatever). Some airlines don't care, most will be polite until you leave then trash the resume. If you went through a time-building program, you're gonna get grilled. They want to make sure you were actually able to log that time legally. If it's one of those "ride along and log" time building programs, you just spent a load of $$$ for nothing.

I'm not saying EVERY time building program is bad, I'm sure there are some good ones out there. Just like most things in the aviation world, if it looks to good to be true, it probably is.
