Is this PFT/PFJ?

Pft

I have read all of the posts regarding PFT. It is interesting that some guys argue that this company is not PFT, while you are logging PIC time you are still paying to be the pilot and log the multi time. PFT? Sure it is.

What is the difference between paying this pipeline inspection company to fly their airplane, get the experience, and log the time as compared to companies in the Rocky Mountains (that fly Metroliners, we all know who they are) that charge a pilot for the exact same thing.

In comparison, the only difference between pipeline company and metroliner company is 1) you log SIC with metro company 2) you dont take any other pilots job since most of their flying is dont sinlge pilot IFR 3) the cost 4) with metro company you log SIC turbine.

Is there really anything wrong with taking this route? I dont know. However, it seems that whether you pay a company to log SIC/PIC time you would gain valuable flight experience that possibly CFIing couldnt teach you. In the same sense, there are things that CFIing teaches you that time-building programs, both PIC/SIC, can not.

The argument that there is only one right way is absurd. You gain great experience both ways. Now whether the airlines prefer one or the other is a whole different question. I have recently spoken to a very good friend who has flown for Skywest for 10 years to get the time and we'll give you the experience.

There is the difference there. Fine, if you want to go fly for a company and pay them money while you aren't really doing very much... no problem... it doesn't hurt other people in the industry. The minute you take away a seat that somebody is required to be in in order for the aircraft to leave the ground, you are causing a problem.

That said... I'm with JT...

The only thing I'm concerned with here is companies that charge you to fill an SIC slot, yet the hours you fly are questionably legal. Probably be pretty crushing to get to an airline interview and find out that the 100 hours of turbine time you bought is worth exactly squat.

You're not the only guy in the plane, there is a company paid pilot up there too. Who knows how the logging of the time works...but you're not taking a seat from anyone. You are, however, making the company $$ while you pay to fly.

After reading through that previous post, I wonder if there is anyone that has done it? I'd be interested to hear how their interviews went and if the airlines asked questions about it.

Oh, there are people out there that want you to think that jet time is important - but they're wrong! The airlines want to see good, quality, SUPERVISED almost-PIC time! Everybody knows that flying a jet is easy, with all those FMS's and things. They practically fly themselves!!

However, at Lloyd's Program, you'll have to do all the work!! Prop, gear, weight and balance calculations, loading, passenger meals - all of the things that I don't wa . . . I mean, all of the things that make a pilot a pilot!!

Hurry, while supplies last!!:buck:

The only reason I asked again(I didnt bother to search...sorry) was because my friend paid for 100 hours and is now an FO with COEX. I asked him and he said nothing as asked about the type of operation down there.
