Is this legal

I currently have a 4 day on 3 day schedule 10 hour shift. I am interested in another dispatch position in same city with a 5 on 4 off schedule. Is it legal to work both positions at the same time.

I honestly don't know the answer. To cover yourself though I would make sure you had off 8 hours between shifts and at least 4 days off per month to comply with the FARs.

Herein lies the difference between illegal and unlawful. Your respective certificate holders are only prohibited from scheduling you beyond your duty time (for 121 Domestic and Flag only) under normal circumstances. If you were violated for something during the course of exercising your privileges every FAA Inspector from the east to west coast is going to attribute it to you violating your rest requirements when, in fact, the regulations restrict the certificate holders you work for, not specifically the Dispatcher exercising their privileges.

It's not illegal, but it does run counter to the purpose of the regulations.

Before it even goes that far, most carriers have a provision in their employee handbook that prohibits employees from working for another airline, contractor, etc. while employed.

Yeah I was thinking the same. I think that would be conflict of interest and grounds for termination.

Never met a dual-airline dispatcher, but I have known a maintenance controller who got fired for working for a second airline before.

Demonstrates the sad state of pay at the regional level, that the question needs to be asked... I knew that I would have to take a significant pay cut to get my foot in the door, but the cold reality this job hunt has faced me with, is a bit depressing...

Like the others have said I believe you are going to find it is a conflict of interest. I know some dispatchers have jobs that could be concidered a conflict of interest but is it worth the risk to your career?
