Is there even a UAL RFP?

TRUST ME! If there was ANYWAY the company could have gotten away with it they would have. Fact of the matter is if they did not recall they would have given some flights the ax this summer due to lack of crews. Fact is they knew when they furloughed they furloughed too many but did not want to admit it. I was shocked they finally came through and recalled some. :)

But I will say since they have had to admit they were wrong once, I HIGHLY doubt they will recall more before 18 months. Just a guess.

Looking at the opentime pot and red arrow days Im pretty sure ASA furloughed too many. Funny thing is that if there were no clause I'm sure they would have furloughed even more.

I wish WE at PSA would be able to tell our staffing levels! We have no ability to see when we are staffed or over staffed. All I KNOW is the other day in DAYTON after being done with my reserve period for the day, I call to get my reserve time for the next day. The scheduler goes to try to tell me she has a high speed for me at 9pm report? I'm like, "I'm DAY and already completed my reserve for the day."

Her response, "Oh sorry honey I am trying to find an FO for this high speed, I'm in Junior Man mode." ARGH!

Call me stupid but what are "red arrow days". I'm sure we have something similar but under a different name.

Days where there are less reserves than some set company number. So if you're working a trip that falls on one of those days you basically can't swap it or something like that. All I know is it pisses off the line-holders.

Regarding Red Arrow days.. You can't even swap reserve shifts with someone.. Never mind the fact that it doesn't effect staffing one bit... Its ridiculous.

Beats the old "request denied due to staffing" response we get at Pinnacle. At least you know just by looking, not requesting and hoping!

At Mesa, for the month of August in CLT, I think we had maybe one day where there was reserve coverage that met what the company 'wanted'. There were many more days where we were far below the level, and even days with a negative reserve balance.... buuuut, we're still furloughing.

I noticed the other day, 23rd maybe, a crap load of flights that were cx by mesa. I was heading to RDU and had nearly 100 people trying to get on. They were doing a bus to RDU for pax who took that option as well. Then down the way the IAH flight was cx? Know anything? Crews, mx, other issues?

Who knows, just a shoddy-run airline. They just don't like to have enough workers to cover the work, for some odd reason. If they're not junior assigning, canceling and delaying flights due to lack of crews, then we've got too many crews.

Days in which reserve levels are below the minimum required for the number of operations / crew utilization figures for that day.

Our MEC is in grievance process (last I heard) regarding the company taking advantage of running too many below min reserve coverage days in a month. Looks like they're going on 7 months now on the -200 side. Not sure how long they've been doing so on the -700/900 side of the house. But one month is one too many with guys out on the street. Nevermind the fact that they agreed to a maximum number of below min coverage days in our CBA.

Its the same on the 700/900. This whole summer if you pulled up the reserve list there would be only one or two reserves left available. Wonder how often the line-holders got extended

Yes, they're called "calendar days" here. :)
:rotfl::rotfl:Nice!

United Issues RFP for Regional Flying

Aviation Daily

United has issued a request for proposal that could see new operators fulfilling Express regional flying contracts scheduled to expire next year.

Although United will not disclose details of the RFP, Mesa in its second-quarter filing noted that both its Bombardier CRJ200 and Dash 8 revenue-guarantee code-share agreements with United could be terminated in October.

Under current contractual terms, the CRJ200 deal ends in April 2010 unless United gives 180 days notice to extend, while the Dash 8 agreement, although valid until July 2013, can be terminated if United gives six months notice.

United told The Daily the RFP "is simply an option available to us and not a guarantee that any contract will be replaced."

Yo Paul I think to press release is fake

Holy crap, I just took a look at open time and that is the most I've ever seen. Its gonna be a long month.

Just out of curiosity, what is it? Someone in the crew room said "You need to check open time for next month. It's funny." We lost 3000 hours across the board. I found 1400 of it. It's in open time for CAs. Almost 1000 more hours for FOs.....
