Is it just me or does this look a little nuts?

Yeah so one of my friends in Purdue flight posted a picture of himself flying. I have to ask, doesn't anyone think this is just a LITTLE too much glass for student pilots to have?

I don't mean to swing the fun and heated conversation to another direction here, but how did he get the charts on his iPad? Do you guys think he got on airnav with a 3G network on there or does Jeppessen/the FAA actually put out electronic charts every 56 days for download? ..Would it be cheaper to do it that way than to buy the books that often?

Hey, his thread sparked some good discussion.

A few weeks ago Sporty's sent me some CFI resources. When I saw an instrument panel poster I thought cool, until I opened it up and found that it was a for a T182 with glass. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. :dunno:
