Iowa Atc Positions

I know a few guys that have gotten offers for ATL already and are set for the PEPC in ATL. You might want to call because they have let some of them know already.

Who all is interviewing for Iowa on this forum? I'm interviewing for it, on 03/20, but have received no info on the specific facility that I'm interviewing for, within Iowa. I am really hoping for Des Moines, simply because the railroad runs through their, and pays pretty well, thus it would be an ideal job for my husband. Also, does anyone know of a website with some descent rental houses on it, for the Des Moines area (I'm trying to be proactive). We own our home in Florida, which we're going to need to rent out, thus am looking for something that is $1000 or under, as far as rent goes, until our home is paid down enough to sell. I don't know the area at all, and the only time that I have been there, was to take the AT-SAT test, back in January. Any local advice about housing, jobs, and so forth would be greatly appreciated. I realize that I haven't been offered the job yet, and may not be going to Des Moines, but I would like to get a handle on things, just in case. Thanks in advance!!!
:panic:

No they were not Veterans. They were notified last week.

Okay. I'm trying to do anything to get this thing to swing in my favor a little bit. Does the ATC select by last names once you are on the referral list or is it just a random selection or do they take the best from the entire list?

Oh, my last name is Scarborough so I was wondering......

From what I can gather you get a cummulative score for your application. They take into consideration you AT-SAT score, your education, your work history, military background, and some other things. They give each application a composite score and that is what they use to determine who gets selected.

I got an email saying I'm being considered for an interview for a terminal position in Iowa.

Here's the thing:

I applied to a bunch of other locations that I got referrals for...places I'd REALLY rather be. I also applied (just because) to the new national listing. I'm tempted to decline the whole Iowa thing and wait it out, but if I do that, I run the risk of not getting picked up.There's also a slim chance of getting scooped up elsewhere. OKC told me you can decline up to 3 times before they take you out the system. I'm 29 now so I have a little time, but really not much.

What would YOU guys do?

Take what you can get and transfer after all this hiring stuff is calmed down. That's what I would do if it was me and I was 29.
