Iowa Atc Positions

hey guys, if you were selected to interview for a position in Iowa, then that is where you will be heading as long as you pass the interview. The referral lists are computer generated (by test scores, education, work history and other qualifications) and from that list, a selection panel meets to decide who are the best candidates. Lets say you are on the referral list for Atlanta or Nevada. While going through the applications, the selection commitee will see that you were already selected for a position in Iowa and will not consider you for atl or Nevada. I do know of one person who went through the whole process and was slated for ZNY. At the last minute he asked for a switch to a terminal position in Arkansas. They actually agreed to let him do it. I guess its a matter of how bad the need is for a particular location. I went through the process in 07 and was selected for ZID. I decided to decline the position in hopes for a better location. I was on referral lists for about 10 other states but was not selected. I am optomistic about the 2008 openings and am hoping and praying that I am selected. Just be careful about the decisions you make. If you can tolerate an area for 2-5 yrs then take it. I am kicking myself in the arse right now for not taking ZID. Just figured I would chime in. Good luck guys.

I recently got an email saying that I was selected to be interviewed, but my destination would be figured out later. Since I took my test on 1/5/08, more and more referrals are popping up in different states. So at this moment, I still have no clue where I could be going, and I really hope if I do finally interview, its for someplace I can a) live in and b) check out quickly.

I just got on the referral list for Miami, and quite frankly I'm scared to go there. Anyone know if things have gotten better there yet?

Hey, I think we took the ATSAT in Atlanta together. Where did you get selected to interview?

I didn't really get selected to interview anywhere in particular. They pretty much just told me that I'd be contacted sometime in the near future, and that I'd be assigned somewhere at a later date.

You applied to Atlanta as well correct? Have you heard anything back from that one?

When were you contacted in regard to an interview for Iowa? I was referred to Iowa and haven't received an email, as of yet, and am wondering if I was rejected. Do they send out notices to everyone who is going to be receiving an interview on the same day?

Talked to Oklahomo today about interview offers. The gal says the offers are e-mailed the same day to all who they would like to interview.
What a pain in the glass the FAA is! I am expecting them to meet my needs and they are not doing that!

Come on Western Region! Big money, big money, BIG MONEY!

What? It feels like its a game!:sarcasm:

Ok,
So I never ever got an interview email but rather some lady from OKC called me up. I'm confused now. I wish things were a little more consistant. AND I'm STILL waiting for them to set a date and time.

Faa lady emailed me back today. She said that the first place that you send in papers for is the place that you are interviewing for, and not your other referals.

That sucks. I am stoked about ATC, but I would like to avoid doing it in Iowa. I am from San Diego/Las Vegas.

I'm in a weird situation.

I got asked to turn in papers TWICE though. Once after getting an email for Iowa terminals (yuck, and I'll decline if that's the case), and another recently after about 5 more states opened up for me.

The one for Iowa said I had a chance to be referred, while the other one from OKC (Brenda) said that I'm going to be interviewed, but that the destination was unknown.

I really think things will pick up after the 15th when that new National listing closes.

I guess at this point, I should assume that it isn't going to be IA. Wonderful...
I am going to be stuck in this dead end job forever.:banghead:

The only thing I know is that they were meeting yesterday and today to make selections in Atlanta. What really sucks is I was set for an interview in IA or MI ( didn't know which) and I had to turn down that potential interview to even be considered for Atl. So if you have an interviewed scheduled that is where you are going unless you screw up the interview. I also just got put on the list for Nevada as well, so if ATL doesn't come through I guess I will see about there.
