Interview with American Eagle

I filled out an online application last night to AE and I got the invite to interview today for the 28th. I originally was shooting for Skywest or Horizon but Horizon gave me the "you can reapply in 6 months" email and Skywest never called back after I went to a group interview and the word I am getting is that they are flooded with applications and enough are from pilots with 135 and 121 experience and so my 1150tt and 100me do not compete. I understand that AE has a long upgrade but that could change in the future (and it may not change), but the important thing for me is that I have read on this forum that they are a good company with good working conditions and average to above average wages (relatively speaking, of course).
 
Congrats Subpiolt! I have been following your career since last year on the Mazzei blog and I know you have worked hard and you deserve the job. Nice to see a fellow JC member make it. This is what inspires me to press on with my training. Man it seems like only yesterday you got your CFI!!
 
Congrats! It's not a bad company as regionals go--it's pretty stable, decent pay, not the best work rules but not too bad, and things are definately looking up there with the AA recalls. Be ready to move to San Juan for a year or so, though.

Definately check out aviationinterviews.com for the latest gouge--the interview is really an intense experience and the guys that weren't well prepared when I was there stood no chance. PM me if you have any specific questions about the whole process--it's a little more involved than many other airlines.
 
congrats. That upgrade time is gonna shrink down in years to come. All the mainline guys will head back up, and the AE guys with AA numbers will follow.

Grats and good luck! My instructor had an interview there last week and got hired - he goes to class on the 27th!
 
I'll be applying there hopefully by the end of the month when I reach that golden total time number. Congratulations, man!!

Oh and congrats on the AE interview. That was awesome to hear that they called you the next day after you applied online.
 
Thanks everyone. I am really looking forward to the interview and have found lots of good gouge to read. I have a friend I did my multi-time building with who also got called by Eagle and we have the same interview day. Eagle also called him the day after he applied and he initially turned them down because he already had an interview offer from expressjet. Eagle actually called him back a week later and asked him to reconsider coming out for an interview and then he said yes. I think that says a lot about how badly Eagle needs people right now.
BTW,
What are the odds of getting Dallas (even if not out of the gates, being able to get a transfer bid after a few months)?
Do you get paid during training?
Do you have to buy anything (plates, uniforms, etc)?

Keep in mind nothing is written in stone in regards to staying at Eagle. I've known a few alumni who went to Eagle, put in 6-8 months there, and left for their carrier of choice with 121 time under their belt. That being said, you won't fly much in the first 6-12 months due to training/reserve duty but you already have enough time to go to skywest should you decide to go that route later on.
