If you have any scrap metal in your face take it out.

Certainly save the unnecessary scrap metal for the new hire party.

Here is a link for buying the best book on how to "Dress For Success" by Victor Maxwell (paperback). As a former HR grunt, I can verify what impression an interviewee presents by the way they dress. Do not buy a K-Mart special. My preference would be a dark gray-charcoal suit, white shirt (white undershirt), conservative tie, black belt with gold buckle, black shoes, and black socks. Everybody and their brother are stuck in the IBM mentality of the "Dark Blue Suit Gang"

$7.47

While looking at the other books, I noticed the AIM/FAR 2005 book for $13.02

Here's my advice

Color: Blue, grey, or, if you can pull it off, black
Material: Always go with wool.
Buttons: Two is fine, three is fine, anything more is ridiculous. Some people can pull off a double breasted look, some cannot. If you aren't sure, don't try.

And for other things, don't wear your airplane tie, or your tie with little pigs flying, or whatever. Be safe and boring.

And this is not the time to try out the cool striped shirt that you got at Metrosexuals R' Us. Stick with something safe and boring.

I went to Burlington Coat Factory. I got a good looking suit for a great price. Take a girl with fashion sense I just don't have the means to know what looks good or what doesn't. I ended up with a black three button suit very basic but no reason to spend hundreds of dollars on a suit you only wear a few times a year.

well you are from Tennessee, so I doubt many of us are all that surprised

Perish the thought! Lloyd lives in Tennessee, but he's from San Francisco!

Now back to the thread at hand, so how 'bout a good ol' mullet? You know, bin-ness in-na front, party in-na back? Yee-haw! Okay, prolly wouldn't fly with them uppity big-city airlines like UA and U, but DL's a good ol' southern airline--surely they've got a soft spot for a good ol' redneck, right?

Also, when my father was interviewing for airline jobs he always said to get your hair cut at least a few days prior to the interview. This way you have more confidence. Usually right after you get a haircut you don't feel yourself because of all the hair you just lost!

Additionally, AVOID RED. Red is the worst color you can have on you. It simbolizes "caution" and "don't hire me". Blue is a great color because it simbolizes loyalty and honesty.

Definately polish your shoes and wear an undershirt...

I bit the bullet and bought a suit the Friday after Thanksgiving. I just let my wife pick it out, that way if I don't get the job I have her to blame.

You mean there's no guys with fashion sense?

Doug and I's old roommate Jopie would be a good person to take along.

I say wear a leisure suit.

So should I take out my tounge stud and eyebrow ring before my airline interview? Hopefully my greazy mullet can cover my serpent tatoo coming up the back of my neck...

A few years ago in the bachlor college days I would have girls come over and pick out what to wear on trips. I was so clue less now my wife just tells me what to wear, act, walk, eat, comb hair, drive, talk, etc...............you get the idea.

You guys wouldn't believe the amount of email I got a few years ago when people with goatees wanted to argue via email about me strongly advising against showing up to an interview with one.

Gnashing of teeth...

How can some of you guys do not have any fashion sense? You actually have to have a girl pick out your clothes? I think that is funny - girls sometimes ask ME what they should put on LOL.

Well, Jace you have certain skills that a lot of us don't have!

Unfortunately I was also blessed with fashion sense in a metro kind of way. Now before a boys night on the town I can't wear what I want because my closet gets raided by my buddies. Tonight is a bachelor party for one of my friends who has left the CFI rank for something with AC, hot coffee, and a lack of props. If they steal my clothes I'm going to start a show called "Pimp My Closet" and flick their collars before we leave the house tonite.

Go for the cheap suit as long as it looks decent. You'll need the extra $200 for beans and ramen noodles when you get hired.

We'll I got the el cheapo and it looks pretty pimp. I compared it to a couple nicer suits ($300 range) and I can't figure out the difference. My dad said it doesn't matter which suit I picked because everything these days is mass produced in indochina anyway. Thanks for all the advice people, I'll be sure to pass it along.
