I think I'll go AWOL from the navy and shoot over to there! Sure beat's my $15/hr.

Good Luck on the Interview Lloyd!

There just scared of you! So 27.50 is considered high in your area? WOW, that is considered dirt cheap here. Good luck

[/ QUOTE ]

That's more than twice the average CFI pay rate at the schools in Florida. It's also more than a Mesa FO makes per flight hour.....

Yeah, that's a little bit higher than average in this part of the country - alot higher than average in some parts of the Southeast. I never payed more than $25/hour for instruction when I lived in NC.

The instructors at the MTSU flight school are making $15.00 per hour - so, you can see some of the difference!!

Now, to choose the best tie....

Anyone have any good tips for general review before a CFI interview? I haven't been flying much in the last 9 months, except to get my CFII, so I'm a bit rusty. So far been going over Jep textbooks, FAR/AIM, and oral guides. (sort of embarassed myself on my first interview, don't want to do the same for the next guy that decides to talk to me).

Hey, sweet deal man! That's more than I'll make as an FO for most of my time in the right seat at this company.

I know....It's more than a first year UPS FO makes an hour!!! Crazy, huh?

If I get it, I just may stay until it's regional time!!!

Good luck!! UVSC pays $8 per flight hour, but charges $25. So that sounds like a sweet deal!! Make sure to check your teeth before going in!

Interview isn't until 1500. Very nice spit-shined shoes and starched shirt...ready to go!!!

Good luck once more. Since I am only 15 and am only getting my first job in a few weeks I have to ask this question. When you go to an interview do they tell you right there if you got the job or not? Or do they give you a phone call later telling you?

Depends on how smooth you are...

really, it varies. Sometimes you get an answer then and sometimes it takes a week. When I interviewed with Jeppesen DataPlan back in 2000, I had a call and an offer before I was even on the freeway....

Excellent. Being squared-away will definately put forth a professional image.

Well, the interview is over!! I interviewed with the chief pilot, assistant chief and the office manager. It was a pretty straight-forward interview, and there didn't seem to be any trickery.

We went into a conference room, and sat and talked for a few minutes about my background (aviation and otherwise) and then we moved into the HR-type questions.

-What makes you mad?
-Have you ever not gotten along with anyone?
-Tell us about a time that you didn't get along with a co-worker.
-In your opinion, what is a "Professional Flight Instructor"?
-Define Customer Service.
-What do you like about instructing?
-What don't you like about instructing?
-What are your long-term goals? (Don't BS them on this one...)

After that, the Chief Pilot began the technical portion of the flight. With regards to the C172:

-Can you open the window in flight?
-Can you operate in daylight with an inoperative beacon? If so, what must be done before doing so?
-What is VY?

We then moved directly into "What if . . ." scenarios.

-...your fellow instructor Mary is out of town, and one of her students got the day off of work and figured it's a great day to knock a solo XC out. Would you sign him off?
-...A student calls after a long day at work and wants to go hit the pattern up solo tonight. What do you do?

Junk like that. After that, they allowed me to ask any questions that I had. I asked some (shocked them when I asked how the company had improved/changed in the last 6 months, and where they saw the company in 6 months as well as in a year. Sorry, I deserve to know that much....

) and then we wrapped up.

They said that they were interviewing two more people tomorrow and that I'd definately hear something by the end of the week at the latest. They also said that after I left, they were going to "talk about me behind my back"...

Seems like it went well....I've got a good feeling about it!!!!!!! So, let's keep those fingers crossed!!
