International Jumpseating on Hawaiian Airlines

Hey All,

I'm new to jumpseating and non-rev procedures.. I'm 135 and we aren't CASS, but I hear that is still OK with Hawaiian if they have empty seats. I'm trying to go from Portland to Australia in 2-weeks and haven't found out if this is still OK to go international.

Anyone have any tips or knowledge about this? I'm going to head to the counter this week and ask face-to-face how it works, but if you have any tips before hand it's appreciated. Also if anyone knows about fees/taxes that may be applied to this I'd be curious to know. THANKS!

well, since no one has chimed in, I'll offer some rumor and hersey in lieu of faces.

This is high season for Australia. Even if the seat map shows open seats there might be revenue pax without a seat, and you will board after ALL other non-revs.

List ahead of time and check in at the ticket counter. Be early. In portland they usualy have a print out of the non-revs and number of seats at the gate. The crew should show up about 45 early. This is a good time to introduce yourself to the captain. Bonus points if you bring voodoo donuts for the flight crew- Hawaiians like weird sweet .

In HNL the trans PAC gates can't get into cass, but that shouldn't affect you. Hopefuly you remembered your passport. Shouldn't have to pay taxes yet.

In SYD you will probably have to pay taxes, visa should work, but having extra AUD wouldn't hurt.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Since it came up, let me just advise this. UA's SFO-SYD has been weight restricted almost daily and taken no non-revs the past week. This is very common from January to early March I am told. The other day the plane left with 60 open seats, and that's AFTER they took volunteers. Needless to say, no non-revs got on.

Now, I don't know if HA's HNL-SYD has the same issue, but I hear HNL-MNL is a non-rev death trap and weight restricted almost daily, so its possible.

I sent you a PM...

For everyone's benefit though, Hawaiian does accept int'l JSers in the cabin. Bring your passport and pay taxes at the counter.
