Interesting Email From AirlineApps

I really don't want to read a lot into this but if they have "X000's" of qulalified apps on file why bother to send this out? I doubt it but is United starting to feel the pinch?

This email is to provide clarification on information that was presented at the recent Women in Aviation conference. You have received it because you have an active United application.

During one of United's presentations it was implied that if you do not update your application within a 6 month period, it will not be considered.

I personally spoke with Bill Kennedy, from United, after the presentation for clarification.

The mention of the 6 month period was to inform you that waiting that long between updates may indicate that you are not really interested. If you are interested, update your application more often. You DO NOT need to start a new profile. If you have an active Airline Apps application, keep it updated. Simply logging into your account updates your “updated date”.

It is important to understand that the airlines have an extensive set of tools to help them screen and review applications. Part of that set is the ability to see when you last updated your application.

Your application is not automatically rejected by the Airline Apps system.

Bottom line; if you are interested in working for your targeted airlines, update your application regularly.

Sincerely,
Plato Rhyne
President
Airline Apps, Inc.

I think it's more along the lines of Plato doesn't want 100s or 1000s of duplicate profiles being created on his system because of a misunderstanding.

I think it means United doesn't want to be the first ones to drop to tier 2 applicants - the people that don't update as often.

Heavy amounts of sarcasm.

THE HORROR!

Part of me is really enjoying the circus that is on-going.

Plato is a personal friend of mine and just take the advice or don't.

He's a good guy and wants to help you find success, trust me on this.

No no. Nobody follow the advice. I'll be the guinea pig. I'll update a lot. No one else update. If I get an interview, I will let you all know that it does, in fact, help to update regularly. Then you can follow the advice. ;)

What frustrates me is many people seemed to confirm what was said by a recruiter regarding this. Obviously it was a misunderstanding, but look at the heartbreak this incurred. It warranted an email from Plato. It just goes to show how stressful and emotional this process is of graduating from the regionals. Piiiiiins and needles, these nerves.

Think of it like this.

There is:

a. What HR is looking for (for better or worse)
b. Airline Apps translating what HR is looking for into their service
c. Pilots applying for jobs
d. The damned internet gossip mill.

"d" is far more responsible for confusion than almost anything else.

Whenever I would see Plato, he would emphasis, "Tell your guys to read the question and answer the question being asked."

To be honest this information has been known for a long time. I was actually surprised to see this email pop up because I thought everyone knew how it worked by now.

didnt help that the WIA hiring brief said "if you didn't update in 6 months you need to create a new profile"
