Instrument Training and logbook question

I have heard from different sources but have not gotten a straight answer on how to log dual time for instrument training. I dont have a current FAR AIM or I would know for sure, but if I am under the hood for the entire flight with my Instructor doing various instrument maneuvers, do i get to log PIC time for that? When my instructor filled out my logbook he only wrote dual and didnt write down any pic time....Am I wrong or am I entitled to that PIC time?

You can log PIC under the "sole manipulator" clause provided that you are a certificated pilot for that category and class of aircraft.

You could log it as PIC, too. Some areas of thought say PIC+training time=total time. If you log your IFR as training time and PIC, you'd mess that up. The FAA, though, has no problem with you logging it as both.

Log it as PIC and dual received. Your instructor could have just forgotten to write it in that slot (it happens). You can check with them or just write it in yourself.

ok sounds great! thanks for yalls input!! Another 2.5 PIC woohoo!! getting up there now! haha :sarcasm: :nana2:

As long as your rated for that Catagory, class aircraft you can log PIC time ,simulated instrument and dual recived or training flight. also because you are the sole manipulator. check part 61 of the FARS to be sure..
