Instrument Know All Handout

Man, I really appreciate something like this! I am studying for my CFI and trying to gather all the pertinent material together into an outline or study guide, but it really takes time. But it sure beats carrying all those books around to study! I hope someone comes across a similar study guide for the CFI.

This confused me... maybe its late...

-WHEN MUST WE FILE AN ALTERNATE:
- Always, except when within 1 hour before ETA to 1 hour after ETA, the weather is forecasted to be 2000’ and 3 miles
visibility

The "always, except" part confused me. It seems like the handout is contradicting itself. The way I'm reading this, it seems like, according to the PDF, you ALWAYS file an alternate except when the 123 rule applies. Isn't it the other way around?

At least you don't have the 1124 rule, just the 123 rule.

Enlighten us?

From arrival to + 1 hour, ceiling must be above 1000' / 2mi, or 400 above lowest approach minima (for ceiling), whichever is higher, otherwise alternate required to be designated.

Pretty cool worksheet.

Looks like it has the IFR altitudes part wrong though, the worksheet says 0-179 is Even and 180-359 is Odd. I thought it was the otherway around! 0-179 Odd 180-359 Even.

What's funny is that I found that online and uploaded it on JC a while ago.

I have another one, slightly better actually, just gotta put it into a .doc file (I have the printout)...I'll do that at work this week :D
Hey,

Were you able to get around to .doc filing that printout you were talking about? I'd be interested to see what's included in it. Thanks!!

You know I haven't, I'm super busy this week with school, flying, and practice but I'll start on it tomorrow...I'll PM you when I get done.

I've got adobe Pro, but can't seem to edit the document. I has no security so I'm not sure why I can't edit. I did copy and paste all the text to a word doc, but the images did not transfer.

I'll see if I can work on it tomorrow, import the images and put them in the correct spots.

If anybody wants the doc file without the images, PM me. I get "invalid file" when I try to upload it in doc. or Rtf.

half way done right now, I only fly twice this coming week so hopefully I'll have it done by Tuesday or Wednesday.

It's done. PM me if you'd like it.

I did leave the aircraft systems portion out to save time, I'll add that soon.

Nice handout! Very well laid out and good on you for having the reg references in there too.

One small change and it is small. Get rid of DPs. They are either SIDS or ODPs (obstacle departure procedure). You typically put no SID in the remarks, although you could put no ODP I suppose, but that wouldn't be the smartest thing to do.
