What was that Inspection acronym for remembering inspection intervals for transponder, ELT, 100 hr, annual, etc??? It was broken into inspection intervals, etc. I forgot it!

Oops, nevermind... I remember now:

S - but what was this one??????????

A - Annual (12 calendar months)

V - VORs (30 days)

I - 100 hour (if used for hire)

A - Altimeter & Pitot/Static (24 calendar months)

T - Transponder (24 calendar months)

E - ELT (12 Calendar mo., 1/2 life battery date, 1 Hr. cumulative use)

Oh...I think S is Static right? When is that required??? Jeeze I can't remember and I'm too lazy to get out the FAR/AIM! :)

Try this one:

I CREST A FAA CREVICE

I - inspection due date (annual/100 hr./progressive)
C - current status of AD's
R - radio operator licence
E - ELT battery due
S - ststic system
T - transponder
A - airworthiness
F - Form 337
A - AFM or POH
A - altimeter
C - compass deviation card
R - registration
E - ELT inspection
V - VOR
I - Inoperative equipment
C - current life limited parts
E - external data plate

of course, this is the comprehensive checklist over the standard AVIATES, but once you have AVIATES down, why not strive to be 100% so the FAA can't bust you on anything?

The s is for static (Pitot Static), altimeter is just altimeter...that's how I learned it

The altimiter and pitot static systems are two different inspections. They are usually done at the same time since both are required at 24 month intervals. 24 month transponder encoder tests are often done at this time as well.

LOL, well thanks for all the posts. Didn't know there were many different acronyms for "aviate" :)

The good news is I passed the oral portion of my stage check today! (for the CSMEL course at UND). The AVIATE acronym helped answer a few questions.
