Max - we have all seen The Simpsons, we know the only reason you wanted to be a mason, was for the spanking on initiation.

[/ QUOTE ]

Max isn't into spankings...but I will say this the initation is both very esoteric and ritualistic in nature.

Eh! it's okay... but not all that it's cracked up to be! Got off from some speeding tickets and some really minor court stuff by doing the "secret stuff". One good thing bout it lots of police,,judges and politicians are Masons.

Perhaps we should start our very own Jetcareers secret fraternity. But I think it should lean more towards "Old School" than "The Skulls" personally.

[/ QUOTE ]you could call it "JC Crowne Room" where initiation is only half the price!

Where do I sign up?????
I can see it now "Dad, (a Shrine Mason) I am not becoming a mason, I've decided to become a JC'er"

Is Alpha Eta Rho a secret fraternity? I'm a Lambda Chi Alpha, and its a secret fraternity, but I know AHP is aviation based and I was just wondering if it had an actual secret initiation. Just curious.

But if they told you whether or not they had a 'secret' initiation, would it still be a secret?

Nope, nothing secret at all.... at least not in my chapter. We actually stay away from any kind of rituals or initiations since we want to have a professional image.

Here's the initiation. Go to network jc. Two shots of that Irish sangria.

Someone want to add more? I'm so not feeling creative right now.

I don't want to start a flame war, but I do want to defend myself as a Lambda Chi and having a secret ritual/initiation. Our fraternity is based on Christian principles, as are most greek houses. I don't see how that could effect professionalism at all. Here are some facts to think about...

Nationally, 71% of all Greeks graduate, while only 50% of non-Greeks graduate.

The All Greek GPA is higher than the overall collegiate GPA

Since 1910, 85% of the Supreme Court Justices have been Greek.

85% of the Fortune 500 key executives are Greek.

Of the nation's 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by Greeks.

76% of Who's Who in America are Greek.

All but two Presidents since 1825 have been Greek.

70% of the U.S. Presidents' cabinet members since 1900 have been Greek.

76% of U.S. Senators are Greek.

Both women elected to the U.S. Supreme Court were sorority members.

Over 85% of the student leaders on 730 campuses are members of Greek-letter organizations.

Less then 2% of an average college students expenses go towards Greek membership dues.

I can't promise that all of those statistics are accurate, but I do know that Greek ritials have no effect on professionalism.

I do know that these figure are correct from my school.
All-Undergraduate Women's GPA: 3.058
All-Sorority GPA: 3.183

All-Undergraduate Men's GPA: 2.773
All-Fraternity GPA: 2.912

I'm in the greek system too (not Alpha Eta), and don't think anyone is bashing greeks at all, just a little good natured ribbing (we're all pretty damn good at that around here).

Interesting stats none the less, thanks!

btw.. i didn't hear any greek bashing at all!

Those statistics are no accurate - the reality is the Greek system attracts those type of people who are enthused with college and are attending college to accomplish something, those who really do not care about academics, college also do not care about Greek Life. If you took those people who are in Greek Life out of it they would perform equally as well.
