Insert foot into mouth!

In the neighborhood I just moved into a couple houses down the street this guy has a pickup truck with a Mooney sticker on it. I figured if they were flyers they wouldn't mind getting an AOPA Christmas Card so I dropped by today to give them one.

I introduced myself and asked who flew the Mooney. The guy suddeny looked sad and said "Well my dad but he and my mom crashed this summer".

Both his parents died in the crash. He wasn't too upset because how could I have known, but that was definitely an awkward moment.

I am the king of "Whoops, I put my foot in my mouth".

But, you had no idea and the Mooney sticker was still on the car so it was legit to at least try to offer the 'secret pilot handshake'.

Eh! it's okay... but not all that it's cracked up to be! Got off from some speeding tickets and some really minor court stuff by doing the "secret stuff". One good thing bout it lots of police,,judges and politicians are Masons.

Is that like "The Skulls" for non-Harvard types?

From what I have heard there a many different levels of the Masonic brotherhood. Shiriners are masons and I have heard that Skulls are connected to the masonic brotherhood some how but that it is mainly for the white male "blueblood" set. Likewise there are Masonic blue lodges that are for the well educated and ones for the common man. I have heard that the upper echelon of the masonic order is the Illuminati.
Most of the males in my family were Mason's the last besides me being my grandfather. It is suppost to be this "secret society but really just felt like any other fraternity to me. If anyone has seen "National Treasure" or the movie "From Hell" they both give good glimpses of Masonic lore and tradition.

Yea it was and somewhat facutal on Masonic history all or most of out founding fathers were Freemasons. The pyramid on the one dollar bill is a masonic symbol. Now if there is a huge hidden treasure out there who knows but wouldn't surprise me masonry did orginate in ancient Egypt most suspect!

Max - we have all seen The Simpsons, we know the only reason you wanted to be a mason, was for the spanking on initiation.

Perhaps we should start our very own Jetcareers secret fraternity. But I think it should lean more towards "Old School" than "The Skulls" personally.

I have my Dad's Masonic ring...he was buried with the rest of his stuff. I remember being younger, and him showing me his ring. He told me once a long time ago that he wanted me to have his ring if I ever became one.

I miss the he11 outta that old guy.

I ramble on...sorry....

Losing a dad sucks. I lost mine back in 1998 and it still sucks, bro!

Boy, we had alot of fun. As I get older, though, I always wish we'd spent more time together. In another lifetime!!
