Injunction against USAPA

They did nothing illegal, and did nothing that didn't promote trade unionism so ALPA should be happy to have them back.

Actually, yes, they did quite a bit that was illegal and violated the tenets of trade unionism. Judge Wake's injunction comes on the heels of the jury verdict that the East engaged in an illegal breach of their duty of fair representation (DFR).

Despite that, if they are willing to get past it and start acting like unionists again, then we'd love to have them back. It's better for the entire profession to have all of us under one roof.

ALPA tried how many times to tell east that the Nic ruling was fair and that there was nothing wrong to be found in it? And still the east guys kept threatening to cut ALPA off and take all 8000 pilots with them; which they eventually did. ALPA tried to work in good faith with east, and got slapped in the face for it. What sucked worse were the west guys who now had no say in being moved over to USAPA.

The bitter east guys that wanted to dominate the seniority list have to retire sometime and that makes me sleep well at night :D

I'm not sure what part of "binding arbitration" was so confusing to the Easties that started USAPA.

Doug Parker continues to laugh his head off.

Regardless of what the USAPA guys did, I'd bet money that ALPA would take 'em back in the blink of an eye. It's all about the $$$$. I distinctly remember very soon after USAPA split off, there was a concern of losing revenue, and instead of asking ALPA members for an increase in dues, they tried the backdoor of including 401(k) contributions in the calculation. Nobody (at least non-officers) even knew about it until the FastRead email came out a day or two before the vote. Fortunately it didn't pass.

To be honest, that really annoyed me. Wanna raise dues because you need money? Well, then come out and say it and publicize it and give your reasons. Don't try to sneak it in, you'll make more members upset than you make happy.

Sorry, that's bugged me for about a year now. :)
