Roughly 4 hours of ground quizzing and a little over an hour in an airplane, and I walked out of the FBO with a new temporary (CFII) in the pocket. Feels good to be finally done. On to the other instructor ratings at this point, I suppose. Quite a relief to finally be done.

Yes it iiiissss a relief! Now you feel like you really accomplished something. The next step is to talk and act like you know what your talking about as a new instructor. Give it time.

Congrats.

Congrats, Man! Hopefully I can get my I & II done this summer.
If you're ever in the mitten, I'll buy you a beer.

Thanks guys. I think the biggest thing I learned from the whole process is this. You will never be able to know everything. I was hesitant to schedule the checkride, because I felt like I needed to study more. If your instructor thinks your ready, you are, and schedule the darn thing.

That's how I felt, but my instructor was confident I was ready, I also felt pretty ready myself, but wanted to study just a little more. I ended up being way over prepared, which is a very good thing.

My instructor had never done an initial CFI rating, so I was taking everything he said with a grain of salt. But, once again, CFI was right, student was wrong.
