Initial CFI with LAS FSDO?

nope, not yet. I got a call yesterday just notifying that my application was incomplete. It was just some dumb stuff...like on the 8710 I put my height in feet instead of inches, I did not sign the back of my commercial certificate, and he said I didn't have my endorsement for the practical per 61.39 (the training in the last 60 months). But I actually DID send that in, I am going to call back and ask a couple of questions about it. The endorsement I sent in says that I have satisfied 61.39 but it doesn't actually say "in the preceding 2 calendar months". Soooo I have to get that cleared up.

In the meantime, still studying away.....let me know if you have any tips. They are greatly appreciated. Do you have a job lined up?

That really does suck but at least you get more time to study. I dont have a job lined up...I am calling every place i can find (sky diving ops, banner towing ops, flightschools, 135 ops) and noone seems to need a low time pilot right now so i guess the search will go on. How bout you, you got any job possibilities waiting for you?

Yeah thats the only real good part, I dont really think its possible to know the FARs 100% so thats always something that I could study more. I've already made a lesson plans for every task in the PTS, tabbed everything in the FARs, learned everything in the recommended ACs, and know the systems inside and out. Soooo needless to say I'm gettin pretty close. I fortunately do have something lined up, so I just have to complete the certification and then I'm all set. Good luck on your search! Just keep trying, something will come up!

Not yet! I guess the FEDs take a vacation over the Thanksgiving holiday...I'm pretty sure I will hear something early this week. Surely....

Got a quick question for ya Born2Aviate. What airplane did you take your ride in? Did it have a stabilator? I'm just curious as to why you talked with the examiner about antiservo trim. I was kind of confused when I saw that the first time, I didn't really know what that was. But then I realized its because I have never flown a plane with a stabilator.

Also, what were the questions like on the FOI stuff? I know you only talked about it for about 10 - 15 minutes, was it because you really knew your stuff or the examiner just wasn't too worried about it? Were the questions pretty broad, like "explain to me the Principles of learning" or specific, like "what is the single greatest barrier of communication between the instructor and student?"

How in depth with systems did you guys get?

Just trying to get all my bearings straight, appreciate any help you can give!

I had my ride in a Seminole which has a stabilator so it needs anti servo tabs. There isnt really much to know about that...quick look at the P-HAK should tell you all you need to know.
The FOI things were pretty straight forward, very scenario based. I can't remember specifically but it was things like "If i'm a student and after this happened, I displayed this type of behavior, what would that be?" As far as systems go, I don't think it was very in-depth but defiantly covered it. If you don't know something it's OK to look it up real quick quick as long as it's not the first time you've heard of it.

Glad I can help out
