Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy some good Del Taco. However, nobody can touch Taco Bell!!!!

(BTW, don't ever call me anything other than a Californian.....anything else would be fightin' words!!!

I tried Del Taco once when I was in AZ, and it made me sick... literally... I haven't been back. It's Taco Bell all the way!

Hey Brian..... nope still in the office. I had a Cessna trip today! My first student! I don't have my CFI # yet so I had to put "Pending CFI" in his log book...

We did the VOR 32 in to CRG circle to 14... he had never done a circle to land before. But he was a good pilot, so it made my job easy

. (I was just happy I got to sit behind the desk at CRG instead of on the student's side... ahh the little pleasures

Don't over-estimate how "western" HK is.. I just got back a few months ago and it is still very Chinese. Expect most people to have very little English skills, even people at the hotel and especially taxis are hard to deal with. Living life in a skyscraper on a small island is a huge shock to most Americans, especially if you're from a smaller town..

That being said, living in Asia flying for CX or Singapore Airlines is my ultimate goal, guess we better start studying systems!

Much agreed. I think this one horse town girl will be quite culture shocked, but I am intrigued none the less. Note to self: learn some chinese before you go.

As far as interviewing for a position goes... do you interview for whether you go to the frieghter fleet or the pax fleet or do the just give you what they have got?

Is there a difference in the aircraft they fly between the fleets? (Freighters get the older planes Pax get the new planes?)

What is the difference between the job and life style between the pax fleet and the frieght fleet?

I have been reading in and out of the other forum which was listed, although I'm hoping to find more information here.

Thanks again for all your help!

The June issue of Air Transport World has an article on Cathay Pacific. Unfortunately, they didn't put it up on their site for free access. But you can go there and find out how to order the article.

You interview is for the position you have applied for. To apply for the freighter fleet, you are applying for a direct entry FO slot. Therefore the minumum experience required is much higher, I believe these minimums are published on their website... basically you need heavy jet time. CX don't employ SO's for the freighters.

In the past the freighter fleet was all 747 Classic (-200/-300 series) I have heard they have introduced some -400's recently.

The pax fleet consists of B747-400, B777-200/-300, A340-300/-600, A330-300.

I don't know exactly the difference between lifestyles with the pax/freighter crews. With the freighters, you have more of a choice of bases, I think they have a couple of US basings, I'm not sure where though. I assume most of the freighter flying would be back of the clock type stuff with not as many overnighters compared with the pax crews.

That's pretty much what I had expected. The other forum was stating that they put you where they want to, you are just interviewing for the position of pilot.

I also figured that the pax fleet would be newer, a box doesn't care what it's traveling on.
