Does anyone have any new news on the hiring at Sierra in Atwater, Ca? I am going to apply for the CFI position. Any info would be helpful...

We have some of their old planes. Anything other than what we received would be an upgrade!

Don't its terrible. Owners don't give a flying F about the instructors. They're new pay scale basically makes you work for free basically. Talking about putting 2 instructors now per room. There are just tons of better places out there to instruct! You can PM if you want more info, i instructed there for 10 months.

I'd have to disagree. I have been able to get my time quickly and pull in some solid paychecks. I had my own room, english speaking students, and $150 a month living. Pay is not bad at $25 a flight hour, $20 for ground.

It is what you make it. But than again, to each his own.

Working here is what you make of it. The instructors and management haven't seen eye to eye many times, but we've finally got a contract in place that is truly for the "Independant Contractor". You get to make your own schedule and work as often or as little as you like. Your pay is based on your student's progress, so if you work them alot, you'll get paid quicker.

The airplanes are old, but in the almost two years I've been here the worst i've seen is a little carb ice, and a few alternator failures.

If you commit yourself to a year of instruction, you will leave here with less debt, and a larger savings account.

There isn't much to do in Atwater, so plan on making a weekend trip once a month to "get out of the Valley".....

Any other questions, feel free to PM me.

For those of you that don't recommend Sierra. What other schools are good places to work? Also, do the instructors share a room? I was under the impression that you had your own bedroom with a shared bathroom.

That's not what the pay is anymore.
