Indonesian pilot charged with "deliberately" crashing jet

Re: Indonesian pilot charged with "deliberately" crashing je

At the very least, he was seriously negligent and should never be allowed to touch the controls of an airplane even in Flight Sim.

Criminal prosecution? I don't know about that. But seriously, who the hell does what he does? How did he ever get his ticket if that's the way he flies?

Let's also keep in mind that accidents like this happened in this country in the not too distant past. The fact that we have the one of the safest passenger aviation systems in the world is because it was built on the blood of past fatalities.

There is much truth to this. This analogy has many parallels outside of aviation, as well, when comparing the state of "advancement" of other countries. The industrialized world was given the opportunity to learn considerable knowledge (often by trial and error), with the considerable expense of human loss and injury. Now that this portion of the world is where it is at, we expect those developing nations to abide by what we have learned (often the hard way), whereas there is considerable evidence to support that had OSHA, for instance, been around 100 years ago, much progress that was made would have been impossible.
