India plane with 166 on board crashes; 8 survive

Go to google earth and you can 'fly' the approach. Runway 24 has an ILS.

Airport on top of a ridge providing some interesting landing illusions. Also, end of the runway and you go down into a ravine. Some photos out there of the crash and obviously a lot of pax died in the conflagration as the airplane broke up in the ravine.

Capt is Serbian and has a facebook page.

Aircraft a 737-800 delivered in 2008. Airport is landing only by Capt according to some sites. Flaps 40 also. Runway is reportedly NOT grooved or crowned. About 8000ft long.

I ended up having a flight to pick up the Air India rescue crew and then flew some minesters back and forth. Saw the crash, where he overran the runway and hit the building. Really really sad, especially how everyone is treating it here. No one really cares, 4 of the survivors had to take rickshaws to the hospital! I could go on and on. Also looked like if the Capt. tried to stop instead of going around, he would have stopped in time.
