Inappropriate?

Most places limit that kind of thing in uniform, and I've always been hesitant to show PDA in uniform. But I've seen far more unprofessional stuff. A hug and quick kiss is just a greeting, really. Making out is another story...

THIS!
A quick "hello" is not an issue in my book. If they were a couple of steps from an "PG" rating, then it's another story.

Besdies, if it was his wife, he best not ignore her for fear of the wrath that will all to soon come.

A hug and quick kiss is a pretty standard greeting/goodbye. I don't think most people would notice nor care.

Now if it goes beyond that and is into "making out" territory (or even remotely pushing the limits of "making out") then no, that's not appropriate.

I saw an Eagle CA very handsy and kissing with a flight attendant in the gate area before a flight - I assume she was his girlfriend/wife but that's probably not a safe assumption. They then walked down the jetway together, and she came back alone like 10-minutes later.

Shifted my concern about regional pay substantially.

Was on a long ground stop trying to get into ORD, many years ago. FA and FO went to the plane to as he said, check the oil levels and she went to check on the ice. I also, before I meet my wife had to repo a plane, girlfriend was am FA with the company, about half way went back and checked on her...

Was it me? I frequently will hug or kiss my bf if I see him in the airport while we are both in uniform. All G rated of course. Over-the-top PDAs are gross and not cool, whether in uniform or not...IMHO.

When I was MIA based, a kiss on the cheek was the standard greeting for a majority of the population.

I crossed paths with my girlfriend at O'Hare this morning. Since we were both clad in the finest polyester uniforms adorned with twelve stripes in total atop our shoulders, I dared not give her more than a curt nod and continued walking. She's breaking up with me, but I am resting easy in the knowledge that the United mouthbreathers in the terminal shall find no fault with possible public displays of affection. After all, what relationship could possibly be more important than that of a co-pilot and a bunch of Travelocity-surfing strangers?
