In your experience, why are some pilots are regionals “lifers?”

You flying DTW-LAX today by chance?

Join a protest or two?

I used to like that flight, because we got to LA pretty early. Enough time for a run, nap then lunch.

No protests for me.

Little brother got a degree from Cal, and I used to live in Concord. So I have a list of food places I want to go.

Flying with a lifer, a 10+ year fellow, doesn't know that Delta and JetBlue purchased CSseries/A220s, Frontier has a new contract, or even that SkyWest will receive 9 E175s very soon (we are both OO). Likes it here because of seniority. Blissfully lazy is what I call this nonchalantness.

Guess not, to each his own. But my dude is gonna lose out on a crapton of 401k, income and benefits given he's young and capable. Less competition though, right?

Right.

When I was younger, I wanted to save the world and save pilots from themselves.

Now, I’m just like “Meh... I can share my success with the right people, and the others, well, good luck to them and crocodile tears in advance when their plan to retire from a regional after 40 years of service didn’t turn out well”

In my sample survey the majors also tend to hire those who have a collection of models of every type of aircraft they have flown professionally, jean shorts and a phone that clips onto their belt.
Check out my awesome Reserve Bath Robe. Kinda makes me look like a Jedi Master too.

I give you points for reserve Big Lebowski
In-laws are asking if I even have a job these days.
I'm contemplating on putting two post-its with forward and back arrows on the controls when given a flight - one on the right featuring a big house and a small house, one on the left a bunny and a turtle. But then I mostly fly with the direct entry captains these days, don't want to freak them out.

Check the company store.
I’m having one made from the Philippines. Should be getting the finishing touches this month.

I had to bust ass to do that (and did do that) on Step 5, and then I thought better of it.

Haven't bothered to do the math, but off first year pay at the Magic Bus far outpaces anything that SKW could have reasonably paid me short of selling my soul to the devil I mean going into the sim world. And I don't have to bust ass to do it.

(First year sucks, but so it is, and so it goes.)
Yup I’ll make more then double as a 2nd year FO at Animal tail then I did as a Regional CA, and I’m home 18 days a month
