Had the pleasure of meeting a true icon in aviation today. An aviator from the real "Right Stuff" era.

Former X-15, et al, test pilot: Scott Crossfield

Mr. Crossfield flew his C210 down to my FBO for a CAP convention here in Tampa.

Truly a gracious gentleman! I was in awe. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(Also met two Charter Members of CAP - didn't get their names though. Nice gentlemen.)

I wonder if these superstars of aviation fully realize what they've accomplished. I believe being the true gentlemen that they are, they would say that they were just doing thier jobs. What a fascinating ere they came up through.

Wow! Those X15 guys are some of my heroes. Did he carry an extra flight bag just to hold his huge balls? What they did was incredible.
