In Anchorage for the day...what to do?

For Fairbanks, hit the highway and drive a bit further north to Fox (about 20 miles IIRC) and go have a steak at The Turtle Club. For Anchorage, definitely Moose's Tooth and ABC. And go hike flattop.

Hers or others?

Both!

Ok, so headed up on Tuesday. We have all Wednesday off, head to Fairbanks Thursday. We should have two crews in ANC (one gets there all the time, the other rarely if ever). I'm the only first timer.

What should I try and get them to take me to see? (Aside from the Alaskan brewing company)?

Moose Tooth Pub and Pizzeria, has a nice selection of beers and tasty pizza if you are looking for a dinner spot.

Second, triple, quadruple that. Amazing stuff. I don't know if it's still in town, but the Anchorage Museum had the Bodies exhibit while we were there last fall. Actually, it looks like they've got an "Arctic Flight" exhibit up...should be pretty cool!

I'll be in Fairbanks Thursday - unless Mount Cleveland causes issues for the whole trip.

Nope. Learjetting from the lower 48. Just figured a large ash plume would head east.

Just checked in to the courtyard Marriott. Long ride up here, but at least the weather is nice. What do you recommend to eat close by - preferably where we can get an early dinner? (Stomach still on Arkansas time!)

You could check out the restaurant in the millennium just down the road.
