Impressive flight in a twin star.

Dumb Q time.....what is a "Twinstar" aircraft? To me, this is a Twinstar when the name is mentioned:

Good lord, I hope the poor sonofagun has a seat cushion with him.
 
I would never ever ever fly a Twinstar at the mea to dutch IFR. Undoubtably the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I heard him take off yesterday, and just wished him luck. That is the most inhospitable terrain i've ever seen, and the twin star is not exactly a performer in the ice.
 
Wow that pilot has some balls. I wonder how many times they had to stop for fuel. When i did my long commercial cross country we went for five hours and some change with the aux tanks full. We were hauling butt though.

That plane burns abut 8 gal an hour (both sides) and can hold 76 gallons with the aux tanks. Thats a whopping 9.5 hours of flight time! Hope he brought a bottle.
 
This is not the kind of airplane I would take over rugged terrain or open ocean. Taking a look at our flight schedule, our DA42s go down for MX about every 8 hours. Sometimes it's an ECU failure and sometimes it's because a governor takes a dump. This guy is asking for trouble.

once we had a student, who shut the engines down with the fuel shut off. Big no no. I don't know how the instructor did not catch it. It did not hurt anything but we had to wait a week while the ECU tests got sent to Germany and back to us.
