once we had a student, who shut the engines down with the fuel shut off. Big no no. I don't know how the instructor did not catch it. It did not hurt anything but we had to wait a week while the ECU tests got sent to Germany and back to us.This is not the kind of airplane I would take over rugged terrain or open ocean. Taking a look at our flight schedule, our DA42s go down for MX about every 8 hours. Sometimes it's an ECU failure and sometimes it's because a governor takes a dump. This guy is asking for trouble.
