I turned down a TOL for the first pubnat, that being said, I was on the referral list for pubnat2, but I didn't get offered anything. I'm thinking it may have been because I pleaded my case in the geo pref email in the comment section where you state what counties you'd like to be placed. I am also on the referral list for pubnat 4 and this time I didn't write anything, plus my clearances just recently went through not too long ago so I'm hoping they see that as well when making their selections this time.
I wasn't trying to imply that anyone else's experience would be exactly the same as my friend's. I guess what i was trying to say, but failed to communicate effectively, is that once your foot is in the door the FAA apparently is more than willing to let you transfer to the facility of your choice. Personally, I am taking the first offer they give me, and going from there. I figure after 5 years of going to whatever God forsaken location Uncle Sam deemed necessary I can take a year and change at a location that is less than ideal, work hard and then move to my dream facility. I just don't think it's worth the risk of turning down a TOL, especially after hearing my friend's story. Take it or leave it. Just trying to help
